I emailed him ages ago and never got a reply. Hope you have better luck. You can also check out: http://www.marks4wd.com/products/gearma ... -gears.htm
Four wheels (Driving) good, two wheels bad.
NP Pajero with added goodness..

How good are these gears? Exceptional. I had a set installed three years ago. Dollar for dollar, I consider them to be the most useful mod I've done to my rig (2.6L Petrol with manual tranny, dual ARB lockers, 5.29 diffs, and a lot of other mods). Despite having a 4-cylinder engine, this gearing has allowed me to climb anything my tires can hang onto and the vehicle can clear. They also allow the engine to run cooler on the trail because it's not working near as hard.
Mark Hardman's a busy guy, so just be patient with him. I got an email from him a couple days ago so he's around (he manufactured a custom set of PTO gears to work with my 2.85 gears for me and he was letting me know they were done).

Yeah, I know Bill. When it all gets put together, me and Nitteberg will have the only two rigs on the planet that have 2.85 gears and a PTO.

Correct. I am in the US and I bought mine three years ago from Mark Hardman in Oz. To my knowledge, he's the only source for these gears.-Scott- wrote:No. The Americans buy these gear sets from Oz, because nobody else makes them.HotAe92 wrote:does anyone know whether an American company does the equivalent gear sets?

That's right if you do a google search there are a few places overseas selling 2.85 Pajero low range gears.
These are all made by Mark Hardman.
The gears Marks 4wd Adapters sell are all made by Mark Hardman.
Nobody else in the world is making low range Pajero gears.
I do know of one guy who had a custom set made about 10 years ago in Sydney it cost him an absolute shitload and only got a 2.4 something ratio.
He told me the gearcutter banned him from ever going there again !!

I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
More info will be coming soon. I just got the last piece of the equation (the custom PTO gearing) last night. If I can manage to get a break from my insane work schedule, I'll get to work on regearing the PTO and mounting it. Then I need to do some modification of my Don bumper to mount my PTO winch. After that, mount the winch, install the shafts, and I'm ready to go! Pics and write-up will follow thereafter.MontyMcV wrote:(Capn, can't to hear more on the PTO...)
Frank, I sent Mark an email last night thanking him and letting him know I got the gears. If you see him, please re-iterate my thanks!

Yeah I have to say these gears are awesome. I had to wait about 6 months for mine - stick em in and you can run 35/36 no worries. They are a bitch to install, but it can be done. Luckily I had help from Frank and a couple of other mates.
I put them in not so much to get more power for climbing but to get good reduction for slowing you down on steep descents.
We've got a Paj & a Patrol. In standard form the patrol gives you heaps of good low range engine braking, the paj does not.
The patrol has standard nissan gears and 31's. The paj has the low range gears and the 35's. In low 1st, they go downhill at about the same speed, so in short, the paj low range gears slow you down, lots. Well worth it for the control and great stress free driving, especially on long trips where you don't need the stress.
So in summary, put in your order, be patient and then enjoy
