Dropped Front Spring Hangers

Post by unbreakable »

My hilux has a cracked front spring hanger. Snake racing make a 50mm dropped hanger. I figured that these would lift the front (only about 20mm though) and would improve the angle of the pinion at the front diff. The only problem i see is that they would be easier to hit on rocks. Has anyone got these on their truck and are there any legalities of having them?

well you got to remember that anything that isnt stock is not legal until 1. it is approved ie RTA or 2. engineered...

but in saying that i highly doubt that if it is done neatly and welded on nicely a cop or rta would even notice it

as for hitting rocks etc wat u got to remember is that the leaf pack will preety much stay the same as it is now with the car lifting up that 20mm's or so... in other words if you are hitting your front cross member then it will lift up and hopefully give you clearance there but your hangers if they are hittin rock than i would suspect that these would hit rock unless you get your leaves reset ie greater curve in them

When I was running a front drop front hanger it use to hit the rocks on a steep approach angle but it never hurt it other than buffing the paint off. Most aftermarket drop hangers are much stronger than the factory ones.

Do you guys at locktup have a dropped spring hanger for a hilux? Or do you just have the one that comes with the classic trail gear kit?
