hey,
has anyone put gq diffs into a 1990 and earlier pajero?? am thinkin about doin up my paj for comp but dnt kno whether someone has done this or not??? was plannin on gq front and rear air locked diffs with air shox front and rear...

is there any suggestions or ways to go about this???

it'd take a bit of work!

For 1, the diff head is on the wrong side. The all new mounts for front and rear suspension.

Then you'll run into trouble with your gearbox & transfer giving up turning large tyres suitable for a comp

So you may as transplant a gearbox and transfer as well to save the diff head swap

Then you'll need more power to turn everything

yer i first got the idea to do this to mine when i saw the pajero at tuff truck... was talkin to him and because the transfer output for the front was on the other side all he did was flipped his 60 series front diff...

you can also use a dana 20 t-case or an Atlas csae or klune for really low gears. i dont know how common thes t-cases are down there but they'll bolt on with little or no modification and will definately turn your bigger tires

how do the dana 60 front diffs go??? are they worth it??? with all the costs for the front to do a gq diff... is spending the more money to buy a dana 60 worth it?? gq front and rears go for about $600 for both when just the front dana 60 diff from a Ford F250 will set me back $1500...

:lol: I think you'd be struggling to break anything with a 2.3 diesel! Even one with more boost :?

You'd be better asking your questions in general where people have had experience with them.

I think $1500 is the least of your worries with this project.

The diff centres in Patrols are quite big. You will have to run big tyres so you don't lose too much clearance.
The pumpkin being on the wrong side isn't a huge issue. There are a few of us that have overcome this when doing our SAS's. All the ones I know of have used toyota diffs.

One more thing. The lowest gears I've seen in a Patrol diff are 4.88's. This is what my Paj had stock, and I went lower so it could better cope with the 35's.

Hekta, did you ever do a wirte up of take pic's of yours? I can't remmeber seeing anything.....

And did you just use the Bundy/Prado front radius arms?

I've been too lazy :oops:
I'm just doing a couple of little mods to it now like IFS hubs when I finish I'll take some pics and put up a thread.
