TD42 + Castrol 25W-60 Ultramax Viscus

Post by Mario »

I don´t know if it´s available in Australia, but tht´s what I´m using here in Panama. Now a friend says that he changed back from 25W50 to 15W40 semi synth and he´s now getting better fuel economy and the engine responds much faster. What do you think?¡ Is 25W60 too much ?

Have a look in your owners manual and see what viscousity they recommend for your temperature range.

Remember that thicker oils doesn't really equal better protection!

I'll take a pic of my user manual when I get home and post it up. I'm currently using castrol GTX diesel in my TD42 and it seems happy enough on it. Considering trying a 50 weight if i can find it. Otherwise my next oil purchase will be a 20L container of castrol RX super or caltex delo 400

As promised.

Basically, use what is recommended. Your engine isnt designed to run on 25w60!
