Search is your friend so is the Sierra and Vitara Bible at the top.

Detroit lockers are better, no extra accessories needed to make it work that might fail one day....

Mate this is a debate that could go on for days, weeks, months or even years..... This topic has been covered hundreds of times... No need to rehash old stuff all the time. SEARCH and you will find the answers you want.

I have had LOTS of problems with air locker compressors.

I like the concept of a mechanical rear locker off road as you don't have to think about engaging it - its just does its thing automatically - no compressors, switches etc. - but they do seem to require a different driving style on road.

On the other hand an airlocker in the front seems good as when its disengaged the steerings normal - front lockers seem to be used a lot less.

So for me ( and this isn't as a daily driver ) it would be - mechanical in the back, airlocker in the front.
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

As Dank said, if dollars aren't the issue (if so you're not a true zook driver) go air.

If money was no object we'd all be driving twin locked GU Patrols.
ARB or TJM air locker is the way to go IF you can afford it.
If you have two airlockers your car drives as normal when on the road and then is almost unstoppable offroad at the flick of a switch :D

I have a mini spool in the rear and I'm saving for a front airlocker.
As soon as I get the front airlocker I'll start saving for the rear airlocker.

drive it first without them. then once u know how to drive it and where u can take then look at lockers.

The places I've been with just an auto rear locker makes me not want to even think about the rip off air lockers. From what I've heard they don't like being engaged for long periods as they wear quickly. Apparantly they are only for after you have attempted a climb without them then engage them and try again then turn off after untill the next hill. I say fark that, I plan to get an air locker front but that said I think I'll rarely have to engage it with my auto locker rear. With both air lockers at least your rear would be needed alot and their reputation for strength used like this isn't brilliant. That and ARB somehow seem to not be able to build a decent compressor even though they claim it to be the best thing since sliced bread.

My choice would be for anything but a high dollar comp truck is auto rear air front and use the air locker sparingly. If you can handle driving a modified zook daily then you can live with a rear locker.
