Disc brake rear???

I've searched but can't find much. I am sick of replacing rear brake shoes every two months or so. I want disc's....
I have heard the Pintara(R31 Skyline) rear calipers will work but what discs did people use? Pics too if possible please.

stock rears on the back and vits up front. see my members profile.

i still have to install a prop valve still because of rear steer under brakes but i will do that soon.

My kit is almost the same as the spidertrax kit, out of allow.

Thanks Nicbeer. I checked your build thread and found one pic relating to brakes.

Not much help really. I WANT A HANDBRAKE.
What disc did you use?

Dunno if I'll need them yet but if I do I'll get them water jet cut by CADCAM at my local engineering shop.

PM roctoy on here. he was going to make some up same as these.

handbrake i have is the std NT drum item. works ok for me.

disc is a std 1.3 sierra disc.

11_evil - there is a alloy bracket behind the spacer plate to omunt the caliper onto and the hub spacer u could make one out of a set of old drums.

This is the Pintara setup I'm looking at. Calipers take a handbrake cable and the bracket bolts to the axle tube under the backing plate. Discs may even be redrillable!

I used sierra rotors and old skool mazda 323 calipers on the rear. Didnt need to use a prop valve either, came out nicely balanced. I do notice that i chew through the pads on the rear tho.

Are the calipers you used off the front or rear of a 323?
I'm guessing front as you said "old skool"[sic].
Do they have an integrated handbrake? or do you have it on the transfer?

n13 pulsar rears is an option i guess, pretty sure hand brake is internal!!

how has that kit been advertised, was it a sierra brake kit or pintara? obviously the discs have not been on a sierra but i was wondering what the caliper mounting plates were off. after market sierra or a lucky oem find. i too am looking at disc rear & vented front so when the time comes i'll be going pintara/ skyline aswell

is there any chance that anyone know if the handbrake is internal for sure and can be used with the sierra handbrake lines? Any help would be apreciated as I already have the vit fronts in mine and my old fronts are just sitting there but I didnt want to change to the transfer hand brake (clearence reasons)

Yep, N13 rear calipers have an integrated hand brake,.

The setup is advertised as "Pintara and would suit hilux conversion".
All stock Nissan parts. I would have to modify some or all of it???

so for the conversion I can use my old front discs and the n13 rear calipers, but now for the mount?
Should I get someone who knows what they are doing to make the mount or is it a simple plate with the holes in the correct place? or should I see if I can just buy the adaptor plates from a kit?

I presume you'd have to get a rear-disc setup engineered? Anybody had any issues?

yeah it does require a mod plate of sorts
so it should be discused with an engineer

I got the discs, calipers, hoses and mounting brackets for $20...

I'll try to remember to take pics and notes as I go through the fitting process.

Pintara discs are the same min & max thickness as Sierra so I shouldn't have any probs with pads falling out when worn.
I have already tried the hoses and the thread on the suzi hard lines screws straight in

AND being rear calipers I SHOULDN'T?? need a proportioning valve. Will see I guess.
Should keep me busy over Xmas

Hey gutless , your brake caliper mount can not be welded , must be a one piece bracket because I had similiar sort of setup , but had to change it for engineering , Cheers Paul.

I have spoken to an engineer on this already and I may have to get them x-rayed to keep him happy. If not then I use these as a template and I'll mill some from ally billet. ( was just being lazy doing it in steel

I used pintara/skyline rear brake calipers as they have handbrake intergrated.

Some 10mm plate shaped with bearing cutout holds caliper and bearing in place.

Machines the orginal brake drums down to hold an orginal sierra front disk.....I also used the wheel studs from the pintare as they are the same thread only longer which you need when installing disk over the orginal drum as the studs are too short...

Will get some pics for you if interested.
