true, i think they would lag to about 3000rpm.. Kym B in the latest OBC vid goes of its tits, but the engine is really spinning hard before you can hear the turbo start to boost.

i saw kym boltons car first hand at mike topfers...... wow is all i will say, sounds like a truck just idling away with that cam, then the revs slowly build till it hits boost and just goes. alot of fuel in that though, alot of black down low and it starts to run out at the pointy end of the revs. i heard a rumour he was going petrol now though? anyone back this up???
there was a guy at offroad expo this year aswell with a gt35, black smoke evrywhere (maybe not tuned right yet) but it had the same thing as kym boltons.... nothing very slow even down low but it got up and went. only had 170 something kw i think, may have even been HP.... just remember being very dissapointed when i saw the numbers and being engulfed by the smoke/pure diesel.

I have been told Kym is looking into ls6 or cast iron equiv with a supercharge on her.
And thats what I thought about the GT35 etc, very laggy and not everyone can spend the bucks to have a td42 hold together at 5500rpm+ constantly

V8s are nice, but you cant beat the sound of a turbo working the magic on a juiced up diesel.

TD42 - full engine balance
T3 turbo - hiflowed
Air to air I/C
injectors modded
injector pump modded
inline fuel pump to keep up the fuel at revs
stock internals
ran 20psi all day every day and got its fair share of 5000rpm runs

never dyno'd just applied fuel to suit pyro would get up to 600
great power through the whole rev range

How much power at wheels
would an inline fuel pump increase usage without changing settings on the mechanical pump? would a re-tune be required after fitting electric pump?
its just to keep fuel up to the injector pump as it won't pull enough fuel
at high rpm with the fuel screwed up

so it helps keep the power in higher revs? makes MORE power? does it actually use more fuel (in the lower revs) or is the mechanical pump what determins how much fuel goes into the motor?
sorry about all the questions, but im thinking of doing it to my daily driver/tourer and dont paticularly want worse economy.
yeh the injector pump is always going to determine how much fuel is going through ... followed by your right foot ...
its just that it can't suck enough fuel by its self at high revs when u have the fuel screwed up .. no point doin it on a daily if u aren't going to rev it and u don't have the fuel screwed up

what sort of figures are you roughly looking at to do a set up like that i have a 05' gu ute and is it possible to achieve good performance out of the factory turbo and intercooler
i could arc up the 35s in 3rd so thats your performance
it was really peaky with full boost at 1500rpm
same rules apply to any turbo diesel setup
get a boost controller, boost guage, and a pyro
factory turbo you'll only get so much usable boost from.
upgrade exhaust to 3" dump and all the way through no mufflers
(add bolt in section to bolt muffler in and out for legal reasons)
not recommended but one of the guys we wheeled with used a brake clamp
to set his boost up to 20psi and wound the fuel right up with factory turbo and i/c and a 2 1/2" zaust and would keep up with me ... but he had stock wheels on
would have hated to see what the EGTs where ... as his turbo was glowing
the majority of the time we were racing around and mine didn't even look like getting hot
