Swift motor going in

Well the vitara engine dream will stay just that for now... don't have the time right now for that.

So anyway got a low k swift motor and that's going in, just a few questions. Probably figure most out as we go...

Does the Swift clutch plate fit the Sierra gearbox ?

Had a go and it doesn't seem to want to... lol. Unless there's some sort of trick to it ?

Sumps been changed over all good, camshaft and fuel pump are gonna be done once the engines in.

Anything else ?

do the cam with engine out as it goes in from the back of motor. fuel pump is easy.

i would use ur old sierra one or go for a new sierra clutch assembly (about 180 full kit)

Alright... will do. Just the old Sierra one is a bit nackered... Swift ones pretty good. So I take it it doesn't fit... ? :D

Water Pump!

You need to swap this over if its a later model swift or else the radiator fan will not fit on (further spaced apart)

Sierra and swift flywheels are different (from what i've told since the clutches don't work)

Okay well lots of small stuff to do...

It's running, but not great... timings out and theres a few vacuum lines missing here and there.

You sure the flywheels aren't the same ? The looked the same... took some caliper measurements around the bearing and those matched up, fits in the gearbox, the starter fits it and so did the clutch.

I know now the Swift clutch doesn't fit the Siera gearbox as the spline's different.

Well the clutch does it's job on mine, although the pedal doesn't feel to great... does seem to need adjusting, if it's anything serious I guess I'd been warned.

At least I hope the flywheels are the same... lol. :D


Well this is what I did.

- Sierra oil pickup and sump onto the Swift motor.
- The metal water pipe from Sierra onto back of Swift water pump.
- Mechanical fuel pump from Sierra onto Swift motor.
- Camshaft and dizzy from Sierra onto Swift Motor
- Sierra clutch plate onto Swift flywheel
- Sierra manifolds on.
- Swapped engine mounts over
- Put Sierra starter on, the Swift one looks identical but it's got a slight bump so it doesn't fit.

That's pretty much it I think from memory, other than little bits and pieces...

What I've done is I've kept the Swift water pump and pulleys, and I'm going to go thermofan/s.

Me and my mate forgot until it was a little too late, imo, not worth the hassle of taking it all apart again and it is a newer water pump. Plus main reason we left the Swift ones on is I'm planning on using the a/c compressor and it would be more of a hassle to use the Sierra pulleys. Mostly just forgot about the fan though. ha! :D

Yes I am an idiot...

With the Swift rocker and timing belt covers as well, it looks like a bit of mix between the two.

I'm sure there are some bits I should have swapped over and didn't that will come to bite me in the ass... flywheel maybe ? :D

But ah well, might as well have a tinker and find out the hard way I reckon.

the swift has a flat flywheel , the sierra has a stepped flywheel , it wont work

ah forgot to say vitara water pump pulley, that way you can have the multi groove pulleys, it's what i'm planning for my parts hybrid, it may be a little trcky but if you pull the radiator out you can probably swap over the pump. It will probably cost as much as the fan and you got less drain on the battery and no homebake wires running all through the engine (need an on/ offf switch to if you doing water crossing)

i'm pretty sure the swift starter electrics fits inside the sierra starter housing if you old one dies so hang on to it

My wiring ain't homebake... :P

Okay, I'm keeping the starter then.

Last bit, do you mean the g13a flywheel will fit but not the g13ba... or did you just suddenly change topic to water pumps ? :D

Lastly, changing the flywheel... easier to drop the gearbox or pull the engine again ?

Second post i was saying that a sierra waterpump + vitara multigroove waterpump pulley will fit on a suzuki swift multigroove belt to the crank.

That way you get to use the radiator fan, no electrics, and stilll get to use the a/c compressor. A vitara pulley will cost you $20 or less and no wiring. By the time you buy a themo fan stuff around you are up for more (and if you want you can get the vitara clutch fan along with the pulley i got the lot at at suzifour $50 :) )
