before you even try to do that, put a 3F, or 3FE in it.

the old 2F is a tough old motor, but really is nothing more than a boat anchor these days.

Actually from all the reports I've seen, the 3F is more of a boat anchor than the 2F.

why? cause it has more power, better economy, less weight, and if you get the 3fe, no carbies to worry about?

shadow, if he's going to all the effort to stroke the thing, i don't think he'll have problems doing a little head and intake work (not to mention EFI if that's his thing). The extra capacity and toughness of the 2f would work in his favour.

Having said that if he's stroking it i doubt he's too concerned about economy.

I very much doubt that there is a stroker kit available.

Try a turbo

As for the original question :P IIRC the 2f has a pretty massive stroke anyway, so even if a kit was available, i don't think you'd get much more stroke out of it. Ask matt mcinniess (sp?), he's been busy for a while working the shite out of his 2f.

doubt there's a stroker for it, they have a longer stroke than john holmes anyway, plus do you really want to pull your redline down from 4 grand anymore?

some head work, some balancing, and these things come alive. a bit of a turbo doesn't go astray either.

haha, iv looked round and cant find a stroker kit for it anyways, and with all the info at hand i ll probs start to steer towards a 350, oi what mods r needed to be done apart from radiator? is their a difrent g,box adaptor or is the heavy dutey clutch nessasary?
cheers for the input fellas

I put a 307 Chev into a 78 BJ 40 a few years ago, used FJ40 engine mounts, Toyota gearbox mounts (can't remember which model) swapped battery tray over, had to bend gear stick, HJ 47 radiator, (5 core compared to 3?) Holden V8 VR thermo fan and shrould sp? spacer for rear tailshaft, Holley fuel pump (mistake) 11" Chev clutch from memory and then 75 series disc brakes instead of the drums, that's when it got a little difficult.

Ok my 2c seen as someone mentioned my name.

2F is better off road the torque is much lower in the power curve due to the longer stroke and larger cc over the 3F & 3FE. The 3F & 3FE is revier.

You can see here from Toyota's own Figures where the power is made.

The 3FE was an injected version of the 3F that came out in the early 80 series form 1980-81 I believe though the very first 80's have a 3F too. Poor Bast*****.

The 3FE was worse than the 3F.
In the USA the 62 series came with the 3FE from around 1988 and only in auto. The reason the USA got the 3FE so much sooner was emissions are far stricter there than here, So although the 3FE gained the injection it also gained a lot more crap to slow it down making it worse twin Cat's and a vacuum system nightmare are made off.

There is however good news. The 2F 3F and 3FE share many common parts. You can also remove all the emission control stuff.

So what you can do is take the 3FE head and injection system, ECU and all and bolt it onto a 2F block. So you then have a 4.2Ltr injected 2F.
Ending up with a stroked 3FE
