There isn't many better shocks then Procomps. If you stuff Procomps then you will stuff any shock unless you plan on spending a lot of money. EFS extremes seem good but there are only a few lengths available.
If Procomps haven't worked for you what shocks do work well.
Shane.

Yeah got the procomps against my better judgement for my 80s and they are useless on such a big rig. Yes they are a cheap shock and look to be well made but they do struggle to keep the 80 level through corners.
Back to toughdogs or maybe some kings in the new year.

Procomps are a comfort road ride which isn't for everyone, and very suitable for off road use . You could argue that Tough Dogs are better for road purposes. However, they won't last any longer then a Procomp shock in the tough stuff. ( Always exceptions for both though. )guzzla wrote:Yeah got the procomps against my better judgement for my 80s and they are useless on such a big rig. A lot of people would argue that the Tough Dogs leak and break etc. However I think this is the people who don't adjust their control arms and panhard rods causing way too much stress to the shock. (I'm not the authority on this, it is just what I have been told.)

had procomps on my ute and wagon and they worked well for their price
on sure they only lasted about 1 and half years on the ute but that was
abusing them constantly ... well worth their dollars for a budget build up

i rate tough dogs as well for off road
as long as the geometry of the suspension is set up correctly
and trimmed the bump stop plate (this is the biggest killer of the big bores) mate of mine hasn't had any dramas with his at all

Thanks Hoonz, do you think you have to watch the bump stop plate for the smaller 2" lifts or even standard or is it just with the bigger lifts?Hoonz wrote:i rate tough dogs as well for off road

My Pro-comps, work a treat. i have a 5" lift under the cruiser and on road it handles beautifully. I still have sway bars front and rear, but offroad with no swaybars my rear coils come loose. Off-road the suspension gives a nice ride but doesnt feel floaty as such. Overall very impressed.
Bought all my stuff from Shane at suspension stuff. Oh by the way shane will be contacting you for a price on 3" gear for mums new 80 series, will also order one of those snake racing front diff guards

shocks
well if pro comps arent the way to go wat would u recomend i will not go any where near tuff dog shocks dont like them and never will the only reason i was going pro comps cause i have a comp truck and thats wat i run on it and i have never had a prob wif them but saying that it is a leaf truck and im looking for shocks for my GQ wagon it has 2'' coils and 2'' body at the moment but im looking to put 4'' coils in it just after x-mas any one like the EFS ex shocks
When buying shocks you get what you pay for.
Procomps are a good budget shock, but in that caterory I would rate Dobinsons as better.
There is no way a shock that cost approx $120 is going to be better than a shock that cost $250.
cheers
