I've got a BJ74 13BT and for some reason sometimes it wont turn off.
I will turn off the ingition but it just wont shut off. She keeps running. (Have to stall it to stop it!)
The first time this happend I was baggin it up in some bogg holes and the second time it was rainning on the roads and I was driving in the puddles to give her a good clean. Third time was at the carwash spraying water everywhere underneath to get the mud of before i service her. I'm thinking water is getting somewhere it shouldn't like the ignition relay or something.
Has anyone had this problem or know whats going on and how to fix it?
Any answers or theories to whats happening would be much appreciated

the fuel control relay is bolted beside the glovebox. open the glovebox, and look inside to the left, there is two 8mm bolts, undo them and a relay falls down, on the top is has "fuel control relay" stamped on it.
that controls the EDIC motor, its a steel relay box, you have to unfold about 7 or 8 little metal tabs to get into it.
you should be able to turn the EDIC motor on and off with this by manually opening and closing the relay contacts, one is for startup fuel prime i think, and the other one is for run.
im only guessing but i would say the running relay has water or corrosion in it, and its stuck on. normally when you turn a 40 off, you will hear a click, thats the relay, give the contacts a clean up

also, pop the bonnet, that relay pushes an arm forward on the fuel pump, it even has stop written on the lever, you can push it forward at any time to stop the engine.
That thing also opens full fuel to allow you to start, so it would also be a little harder to start at the moment.

There is a vsv valve located near the starter motor. When hit with water these are pretty useless. I actually have a throttle cable and a release that pulls the rack back to the no fuel position on the fuel pump. The 13bts dont have the EDIC motor they just have the vsv operating a butterfly in the intake. you can also shut them off by finding the dashpot (ufo looking thing) on the intake piping and operating the push arm underneith.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll checkout those ideas and have a look to see if it solves the problem. It has stopped doing it for now.
The cruiser is a 1986 BJ70's model with a 13BT factory turbo. Its a Jap import which runs on a 24 volt electrical system. It has the turbo timer
off it and there have been a few dodgy wirings going on with it. The spot lights aren't hooked up the the high beams and the previous owner has run a 12v cig plug to the back off the car. I haven't checked to see it the is 24v or 12v, have to get the multimeter on it.
On the weekend I'll be putting in a a dual battery system. I decided to go 24v on the dual batts. Got a redarc 24v battery isolater and 2 agm 100ah
batteries that I'll run in series. I'll run the Engel on 24v and also hook up a 24v - 12v dc converter for a light or other 12v accessories. When I do this I'll also run 12v to the accessories socket up on the dash. I thought
long and hard about this set up and seems the simplest way to do things.
If anyone has a better or different way to run a dual battery setup for 24v I'd like to hear about it.
