Hilux Alternator Vacuum Pump.

Post by Bitsamissin »

Well my mate has a 2.8 diesel Hilux with an aftermarket turbo.
There's been this bearing type noise that he's traced to the vacuum pump attached to the alternator (alternator has been rebuilt).
He hasn't pulled it out to look at it yet but rang Toyo to get a new price ($870 + GST   ).
Are these things rebuildable ?? Or is there an alternative source for rebuilt/changeover units.

Thanks, Frank.
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"

They are expensive!!!

You best bet would be to source a 2nd hand one from a good wrecker!!!

Or you can try and replace the bearing, they are fairly simple to pull apart!!!!!
