40lt engel.
Brother has a 60lt
We have 6, 4kids, 2 adults
Brother has 4. 2 of each
For a weekend trip its more then enough. If we go for longer we take an esky for our drinks and only put food in the fridge. Or we swap with my brother and take his 60lt. Still end up taking an esky for the drinks as that saves a lot of fridge space for food.

don't own one ,but borrowed my cousins Waeco CF-50 50ltr when we went to fraser is.
I will probably get the waeco CF-60 when I buy one. I would like to get a larger one or a fridge/freezer (like the engels or a national luna) but don't have the space in the pajero for it. Looking at getting a techni ice esky, so will use that as well

Waeco CF-50, had it since they came out. Use it heaps, even at home for 3mths at a time when I need the space.
Mate has run Waeco for years to cape york as professional tours.
Another mate who is the hardest b*stard on equipment I have ever met had a 70L and it survived him until he sold it to another mate. It's still going strong. Picture back of a disco with a dozen can of beer rattling round on fraser at 90km/hr on the inland track. Fridge going floor to ceiling often.
They are tougher than I thought. I borrowed it to take to the cape as well before I bought mine.
Another couple of mates have EvaKool ones, basically a converted esky. Very good on power due to heaps of insualtion, but they take up a lot of space. Also feel a little "homemade" to me, but seem to work well enough.

I have a 60 litre evakool fridge/freezer and am very happy with it. Used it on a 2 week trip out west and never missed a beat. I used it as both fridge and freezer so i could keep all the meat frozen. I had enough food to last me the 2 weeks but if it's only a weekend trip I use a 50 litre downunder icebox. Very tough and the ice will last 3-4 days

I have a 70 litre trailblazer. Bought 2nd hand and well traveled 5 years ago for 1k. Its used on holidays on 12v, and for atleast a year it was used as our household chest freezer on 240v without a problem. i believe it is unkillable.
Get one as big as will fit in your car. 70L is probably too big for me wife and my son, but its better too big than too small.

Obviouslt not a big drinker? or you take bottles of spirits, cause My 39L engel is to small for myself and missus for a weekend, without topping up the refreshements, usually only a few steaks, sausages, bacon in there as foodGuts wrote:40lt engel.

Wanted: Car trailer or beaver tail truck, let me know what you got
Engel 80L fridge / freezer.
45L fridge / 35L freezer.
Does me just fine. Nothing like a healthy bowl of icecream and hot apple pie out in the bush. Good for freezing freshly caught fish and storing meat in general for more than a few days when your in the middle of nowhere.
Never let me down in the 2yrs ive had it.

Bought a "coleman" fridge freezer. They don't sell em in Aus, this was a test model from the US. $300 and 1 1/2 years later its going great Freezes stuff from hot to frozen in about an hour, and I've run it for 2 days of f one battery Just a tad small at 27L. Go 40 or bigger next time for sure.

Yea, I had a 60 litre model. I reckon they are unbreakable as well. I rolled my 4 by ( upside down for an hour and a half ) and it kept going when I got it back on its wheels -- with out a problem

HAD a 80 litre waco and its a peice of s%@t. Went well for about 5 years till the warrenty ran out. Now the lid is buckled broken latches and the thing runs flat out and you can not turn it down as the temp panel doesnt work.
Next fridge will definetly be a Engel.
Oh by the way if any one in brissy is after the best ever prices on a Engel fridge then just ask.

40 L waeco and a 120L bar fridge when we go for school holidays for more than a long weekend.I picked the 40L cos it fit into my falcons boot but I would go the 50L if it buy it again.I have only used it once in the ford in 3 years. The engel to much $ in my opinion you buy 2 40L waecos for the price of 1 80 engel and get change. So you use one for fridge one for freezer I would think thats the best set up.It's all about packing it up if you go to big when it full hard to move if you go to small you dont have all the drinks cold.I pick mine cos we do more short trips than long trips and the fuller it is the better it works.
LETS GO BRONCOS
I have and 68 litre Explorer Fridge Freezer (the new model is 70 litre). It is great, when I was single could live out of it for weeks on Cape York and still keep plenty of drinks cold and will freeze down fish fillets to bring home. With 2 of us it still has heaps of room 10 days on Fraser and couldn't eat all the food that was in it. Has survived for 5 + years in the back of 2 different utes, 4 trips to Cape york etc etc hasn't missed a beat.

Waeco CCF-40, about 5 years old & going fine. Only problem ive had was a dry solder join on the fan last year. The bag made a heap of difference too the run time, so did installing 6mm wire with a dedicated battery earth.
Im waiting for it to die so I can get an Engel, then the car fridge wont screw with the HF Radio Reception.

I bought my engel of an old couple who....traded up to a new engel , when I was 18 and to poor to buy a new one, 6 years agofrp88 wrote:I would say you are a little pro engelcloughy wrote:But when your engel is 20 years old and still going strong, you'll have bought another 4 waeco'sfrp88 wrote:.The engel to much $ in my opinion you buy 2 40L waecos for the price of 1 80 engel and get change..
The ONLY issue it had, is the current draw is approx. 5.5A when the comp. is running and my old boys 10 year old is about 2.5 and his 2 year old is 1.5A, which is alot easier on your battery's
The fridge is 20 years old now, and still working pefectly, can't complain with that............

we have a Engel 60l its an !981 mod, we replaced the basket with 2 new ones about 5 years ago, they came out with 1 basket in 1981 only acording to engel. I lived out of it for 12 months, we fit enough food n drinks in it for a week end easy for 2 adults n 2 kids.
Bought a new one 6 month ago its still in the box for when we take 2 cars.
