i have tons of pics. the loom is done as of now (12.50 am) but not in the vehicle.. all i have to do is place it and wire it into the 80 loom, i figure about 10 to 20 mins tomorrow...
after that all i got to do is the flywheel, hd clutch, bolt box on, then fit heater hoses, sheild the rhs rear heater hose from touching the egr metal pipe..
then crank it over..

give a man a break, its still not finished... so very close though.
got the engine stop sorted, 2 things caused it, the alt wires (L {load} and IG {ignition})are around a different way on the 1hd-fte, also one of the 3 wires left on the stripped loom to provide power (ign const) was on the wrong wire on the 80 ign loom also. its going great now, need to do tahco and engine check light, taking ages in the wiring due to the USELESS gregorys workshop man for the 70- to 100- series only covers parts of the 1hd-fte in the wiring diagrams (most of it is the 1hz engine only) but same again the gregorys workshop man for the 80 is totally up the shit also even though they have the right engine in there.

well i am having problems with this conversion.
it is all in and running though.
i have no tacho, i cant get it to work no matter what i do. the gearbox is hitting on the tunnel as the engine is sitting high although the engine mounts look to be exactly the same size between the 2 engines.
the major problem i have is after boosting it and backing off the engine is stalling (this only does it with load, not free revving). i have the scan tool here but i have no idea how to use it and my brother (lent it to me) is still learning to use it so we have no idea what is causing this.
i did have 2 fuel filters on it (the original 80 series and the original 79 series small one) but i have now removed the 79 series one and just run the 80 series filter. maybe it needs a lift pump fitted but this does not explain why it doesn't do it when free revving, also the manual does not show the 79 series running a lift pump.
really not sure what to do now with this, no beach for me these holidays.

cool, ill swap the engine mounts over and see how that goes then, i used the man from the 1hd-t 80 series, or are you talking the workshop man? if so it is the gregorys workshop man covering the 70+ series to the 100+ series, but it is useless., i did not hook up the gearbox first start switch or the speed sensor (did not get it anyway) but my gearbox/ speedo runs a cable and not a speed sensor.

Manual
If it is any help I have a genuine factory workshop manual for the 100 series on disc & also the Factory 80s manual. I can loan you the 100 series if you like. It has a very comprehensive wiring section. PM me.
hi bud. appreciate it but no sorry...
got it running the solenoid switch before the pre heater was closing the butterfly and making the engine stall, why i have no idea.
it does run now but my 1hd-t has way more power than this so something is totally wrong... about at the stage where im going to rip it out flog it off then buy a std 1hd-t... so over the shit this is giving me.. i got a feeling it is now because of no speed sensor... petrol efi conversions are so much easier..
cheers mark.

So if your going back to a 1hd-t why not repair the one you allready have instead of buying someone else's issues It seams that money is really no object to you so you may as well do the job right the first time. Or i guess it would be the 2nd time now wont it
You will have to use some engine-uity. I believe in you.

PLEASE take your time and sort out the issues. Others (me) are waiting for the 'build up' post so you can sort out all the problems for us.
Fraser is currently being washed away, so you have time. Well getting hammered anyway. Just trying to stall you.

easy for you to say bud, your not stuck at home like every other year for me... i really wanted to finally get out this year.
the engine has had the mounts swapped and is now sitting sweet. i figure the no power is due to the speed sensor missing, im going to try hunt one down and fit it up see how it goes.

From what ive read, you have two switches on the accelerator, a failsafe system, one measures throttle opening, the other idle position. If you dont have closed loop operation,(speed feedback) the motor runs in limp home mode, and you have low power...dependant on what motor is doing when you go back to idle position on accelerator, it will shut down motor or let idle....being in fail safe mode, if the motor revs and the accelerator is at idle, and it has no feedback for road speed, it thinks the motor is running on its own oil and shuts down (failsafe)
This is all my understanding of what ive read and what i deduce, so take it with a grain of salt, have pm's you a possible way to get it going....saharas have cruise that run on pulse....from back of spedo on early ones with cable...you may get lucky if you tap in, or you may start cursing me...all i know is thesame cruise is used on later electronic spedo units. Magnets on the tailshaft would work too...unreliable but may get you to Orchid Beach...ya bastd

mine doesnt have the factory speed sensor as it does not have the factory cruise control due to being manual.
i have tracked one down on the sunshine coast.
im sure this is the problem as it feels gutless. when free revving it revs very quickly, when driving it is like it is in limp mode, the revs take ages to climb..

As yours is a Sahara, it will still have the electronic pulse generator in the speedo as it also drive the PPS = progressive power steering.
As Andrew said, you may be able to tap into it and fluke the correct PPK value (pulse per km).

interresting... it does have the pps on the box.
might have to use both yet as the 79 series loom has one going to the box into the ecu, then from the ecu to the dash. i figure the dash one might be the speedo though as it has no cable. so might get away without hooking this one up.
cheers for the info bud ill work out what colour the wire is.

What have you done with the power limiting wires for the 1st gear switch? They may also be a reason for your low power (i.e. may need to be closed rather then open) or see a certain resistance value?mud4b wrote:[

EDIT: Just checked the 100 series tech manual for you:
Continuity in 1st, none in any other gear position. So if the 79's the same leave the wires disconnected.
