Electric window problem

Post by patrolgrant »

Hi guys.
My 92 Patrol Electric window stopped going up and down this morning even though you can hear the motor working.
I pulled the trim and everything apart and can see the motore spinning however not working.

It is spinning the metal knob which connects to the motor but the curved cog looking piece is not moving at all.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can you move the window up or down by manually turning the window mech ( the other part where the plastic gear sits onto ) with pliers etc ??? If it just spins freely then the window mech is stuffed ...
Its NOT A FORD Its a NISSAN ....

Yer it just spins freely. So i assume i need to get myself a whole new window mech?

That whole piece that connects from motor to window that is inside the door is that the same for both electric and hand operated windows?

Is a wreckers going to be my best bet to get a new part?

If my memory serves me correctly its called a window regulator. A wrecker should be able to help you.....Not sure but I think the electric and manual regs are different........correct me if im wrong.

A wrecker is going to try sell me a whole door isn't he and not the part? I have found a "new" one on e-bay for $57 incuding shipping. Does that sound about right?

A wrecker should be able to sell you the part individually, I dont see why not. Without looking into it, $57 inc shipping sounds o.k. to me and I would expect a new one to be $120+ ....
