Has anyone converted a forward shifting transfer from behind a 5 speed to a top shifting and if so how did you go about it and was it worth it over buying a top shifting one?
I'm putting a gear driven transfer behind a R150 and the R150 box only has the gear shifter. The chain driven transfer was a top shifting one.

to convert the cases you will need a new top plate new shift rails and a few other small items, if you already have the case parts may cost upwards for $100 to buy to do the conversion, or you can get a complete topshift case for between $250-500, you could talk to a wrecker and see if they would do and case for case exchange etc.

top shift transfer
Here is a photo of the forward shifting transfer opening
And the opening of the top shifting gear driven transfer
I'm thinking I will give it a go. Just might do some more research first

Re: 5 speed transfer shifter
Your going to need parts from a top shift gear driven case to complete the job so you may as well buy a top shift case and just fit it complete.Grublux wrote:Has anyone converted a forward shifting transfer from behind a 5 speed to a top shifting and if so how did you go about it and was it worth it over buying a top shifting one?
