Re: lift kits on GQ ??
go 3" to 4" suspension instead.frby69 wrote:i have a 91 GQ with a 2 inch susp" lift and have been thinking of putting a 2" body lift
you'll only need brakes lines for suspension lift or for increasing travel.frby69 wrote:can anyone please tell me if all i have to do is put rear brake line on front and put new one on rear is there anything else i should consider i have 32's (tyres) on it but am about to put new ones on hopeing to get 35's![]()
Radius arm spacers to move the front diff forward, some trimming of the guards, and 35's will be fine.

Hi mate l just bought a 3 inch lift kit from The4wdshop on ebay for $850 which included springs, extended shocks, extended brakeline and castor bushes, the GQ is so much better with this lift as l only had 2 inch body lift with 33's now l can fit 35's easy......OH dont need adj pan hard rods for 3 inch but you do for 4"
Cheers Chris

body lifts, and 35s are illegal in Qld.
plenty in the bible.

Re: lift kits on GQ ??
Bodylifts are not illegal here. 2" lift is however the maximum you can raise the body i recall being told by a local engineering (blue plate) mob.bogged wrote:

However like everyone else, on only a 2" lifted GQ I do not see the point in only putting the body up another 2"! Your chassis will still bottom out and get you stuck on things a standard long wheelbase hilux can drive over without touching terrafirma.
Re: lift kits on GQ ??
depends who you talk to.. theres beent more threads on this shit, with 50/50 no yes no in differtent states.Yom wrote:Bodylifts are not illegal here.
Will vary. I have 2" front and 3" rear at the moment, and both ends need adjustable panhards.SurfChris wrote:Hi mate l just bought a 3 inch lift kit from The4wdshop on ebay for $850 which included springs, extended shocks, extended brakeline and castor bushes, the GQ is so much better with this lift as l only had 2 inch body lift with 33's now l can fit 35's easy......OH dont need adj pan hard rods for 3 inch but you do for 4"
can i use a mate to position while i screw?
Re: lift kits on GQ ??
I know its not illegal here though. The blue plate on my mate's surf is testament to this fact.bogged wrote:depends who you talk to.. theres beent more threads on this shit, with 50/50 no yes no in differtent states.Yom wrote:Bodylifts are not illegal here.
My advice is to stay away from bodylifts in GQs. They put too much stress on body mounts and you can get much better tyre clearance by trimming your guards instead.
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy? I don't know and I don't care.

It looks like your troll is pretty stock. Get in contact with Ryano @ Fourbies. Talk to him about your tyre options and also talk to him about suspension - if you buy it all through him you can bet he'll give you a better price than you'll find anywhere else. He's extremily knowledgeable and trustworthy. Yes you might be able to buy cheaper through ebay or some bloke who says "mate I can get you a good deal on this" but at the end of the day if your tyre shreds itself or your shock absorber starts pissing out oil you want to be able to call the bloke who sold it to you and say "mate, it broke, I'm bringing it down for you to have a look at and sort out under warranty"
Alternatively, keep your eye on the trading forums. Second hand tyres and suspension gear comes up ALL the time and its usually in good nick and very, very well priced.
Goodluck!

No BL's are not illegal in QLD, however there is no accepted blue plate for a body lift. They must be approved for fitment prior to by DOT., and then the vehicle is inspected by DOT - full pit inspection. Hence why I had suggested not to worry about it.Yom wrote:Bodylifts are not illegal here. 2" lift is however the maximum you can raise the body i recall being told by a local engineering (blue plate) mob.bogged wrote:

This is correct & not that hard to do.
Body cracking is caused by fitting the wrong size bolts & blocks.
I would always do suspension liftv first & then a bodylift if required.
