want33s wrote:"Due to the higher production costs and the advent of fuel injected gasoline engines bristling with computer modules and sensors, engine manufacturers discontinued reverse rotation engines in most cases. Since then, engine outputs have been handled by reduction gears capable of reversing engine output rotation. Both engines are standard left hand rotation but the reverse reduction gear changes the starboard engine output to right hand rotation. This is a much simpler, less expensive way to handle the need for opposite rotating engines. "

That would explain why I've never come across it.
Its a discontinued practise in smaller boats especially petrol engined inboards.
PS. Why would you say you must be 'talking out your ass' because I've never come across it?
Did you read the second paragraph or did you just look for what suits your argument?

Your first reply with the  would suggest you beleived im talking shit not that you just have not ever heard of it.

If your going to PM people and annoy the piss out of them, best to Post the whole conversation, first you say you've never heard of counter rotating engines , you get shown they exist, then continue to pic snippets that suit your opinion, I was just playing in your field ;)

Counter rotating small blocks exist readily available AS DO kits as mentioned above.............So whats the problem please?

No more PM's, they make baby jesus cry, and you appear to use whatever you like anyhow

do you need to flip the diffs?

second question, if you were to use a 350, 2 speedglide and GQ transfer and make the motor run backward would you need to flip the diffs?

Yes i have way to much time on my hands. none of the above will make your silverado any cheaper to run.
next question... :D :finger:

I was going up a hill once in my Suzuki LJ50 when it stalled momentarily. It then restarted backwards, without me knowing as it rolled back slightly before I clutched it. When I went to take off again, I shot backwards. I first thought something had happened to the gearbox because I had 4 reverse gears and one forward gear! Not really relevant to the 'discussion' because it was a 2 stroke anyway.

The Corvair air cooled 6 cyl used to have a reverse rotation kit available so it could be used in VW conversions, back in the 70's.......
