hi, is the only difference between the petrol and desiel 5 speed gear box in a pre 88 model only the clutch housing ? cheers

All G52 gearboxes upto 97 I think [some one will correct me if I am wrong]
Bell housing is changeable
geardrive transfer case model has 21 spline output
chaindrive transfer case model has 26 spline output

Yeah, that's what I thought,

Bellhousings are definately changeable. Done it myself.

Im pretty sure after 97, they use the W58 for the 2.7L, or R151F boxes
for the 3.0L and Turbo Diesels.
