T - Belt warning light stays on in the Hilux

Post by RN »

Just returned from Cairns and I had the use of my SIL's twin cab tray Hilux diesel. It is a 4 cyl and I noticed that the T Belt light was constantly on. The belt has been changed but how do you re set this warning light?

BJ,

I am back in Vic now so I have no idea about the grommet. My BIL was informed that he would have to dismantle the dash to re set it but there must be an easier option.

UPDATE
Just googled the question and found this...will email the BIL.

Look down at the bottom of the speedo and there should be a small hole that you can poke a small screwdriver in and push the button. There might be a rubber gromet over the hole.

to reset it you pull the grommet out as stated earlier and then you unscrew the needle that is next to the grommet, that is used for reseting your trip meter and poke that needle thru the hole from where the grommet was.

This is possibly the screw to swap holes to reset the t/belt light;

So what do you do at the next interval? Just swap it back to the other hole?
