Silverstone MT's

looking at buying a set of silverstone muddies
just wanted to know anything bout em from experience
can ya drive them on the road
r they a bit too serious for on road
what r they like wear wise
any info would be great

I used to run these on my car.

There where more noisy then the MTR's I use now.
Wear was pretty good.
They where pretty good in mud.
The sidewalls where pretty thin.

nah i reckon i would wear simex's out too fast
the car is a d driver and i only take it off road maybe 6 times a year atm
thats why i wanted to get some muddies instead

i ve rang the fella again and he says they r MT-117
went onto their website they r a preety aggressive tyre
dunno how they'd go on the road
hmmm decisions decisions

I remember speaking to a guy on the tracks out at Gembrook a while ago and he ran them as his daily driver tyres but his recommendation was not exectly GLOWING ... I seem to recall the words "scary in the wet" being brought up a few times. I tend to think they would be a bit agricultural ... when it comes to tyres I am a real believer in you get what you pay for.

I had a look at the new silverstones yesterday.. They are approved, road rated, speed rated, etc.. I'm told the biggest size they have at the moment is 33's though.. They are a bit different to the ones in the pic above, and have small tread blocks inbetween the major ones..

doesnt matter now
went and bought 5 35's BFG's easy 60% left for 600
didnt wanna go for the silverstones thought they'd sound like hell on road and dont know bout how they r in the wet

6 times a year, dont bother with MT's you wont get good value out of them. The best part of any tire is the square edge on them when new... It would be worn off before you hit the mud...

Coopers STs would be good. Steve Roly loved them when he has his GU with Xterrains, Swampers etc...

Chimpboy has 32" Silverstone MT117's but not in the extreme tread pattern (which is the photo) but the standard one. Got them cheap and they worked just like every other old-school allround muddie (BFG, Hankook etc etc). No problems with them whatsoever.

If they don't go with the MU which is up for sale then I may put them on the Vitara when the 31" BFG Muddies finally call it a day.

those 35 mt 117's in the melb trading post are my mates. They are awesome in a straight line in mud, we call them his "turd tearers", but lack a bit for sideways grip, and yes, they are not that good in the wet, but they go awesome in the mud... not really suited to daily driver though, he has them as second set...

I've got them (the 32" ones) on my very sexy Isuzu MU which will be getting sold soon.

Fine in the wet, great on the road though a little loud, and work very well in the mud thank-you-very-much.

Nothing like the pic you showed which I believe is not available here. As SuzukiAspirin said they look just like your off-the-mill mud terrains from any other brand, very standard mud tread, although they have more space between tread blocks than, say, the hankooks which seems to help them along.

As they are a bit loud I may have to put ATs on to sell the thing, but it really is gonna depend on the buyer. If they have to come off, they'll be for sale separately.

Very much so.. Also not that bad offroad so far... Shit Overkill Sam was usin them on his Tuff Truck Zook...

I remember threads about these Silverstones saying they wore really fast??
