Has anyone fitted a converted airconditioning pump to an 85 Range Rover?
What pump did you use & how / where did you mount it?
Thanks
Steve

Hey,
When you say a converted Air Con compressor you mean using it as an air comp or actually for Air con?

Air Comp
Steve mount the compressor in the vee of the engine above the water pump. Get a pulley machined up the same diameter as the water pump pulley to suit the belt size of the comp, (cast iron is best, ally wears too quickly) bolt this to the water pump pulley. The added bonus here is that you actually take all the load off the water pump bearing.
The clutch on the comp should clear the fan shroud by 10- 15 mm from memory. The top of the clutch on the comp sits just above the fan shroud I made up a guard on mine so that you couldn't get your sleeve etc caught in the belt when the motor is running.
Had a look for some pics but dont seem to have them any more
Its a fairly easy fit up lots less work than my mav was to do
