Auto to manual, manual to auto!!!!!
Auto to manual, manual to auto!!!!!
Is there anyone out there that can tell me a few things about navara gearboxs.....
The measurement of a manual gearbox in a 1998 V6 navara ?
Does a manual V6 navara has the same bolt pattern as a V6 pathfinder ?
And what side the transfer case sits on a V6 navara ?
I have been told that an auto navara has the same trans as a pathfinder as well, does anyone know if this correct?

Keyboard jockeys.. Rich words there
OP:
You'll need to clarify which vehicles you're talking about.
We have:
D21 Navara V6 manual
D21 " " V6 auto
D22 " " V6 manual
D22 " " V6 auto
WD21 Pathy V6 manual
WD21 Pathy V6 auto
R50 Pathy V6 auto (we didnt get manual remember, R50 is also known in australia as the "WX")
You could reasonably assume all the D21 based vehicles will have the same gearbox/transfer setup. Possibly also the D22 as its a very, very similar chassis. R50 not so much as its a completely different chassis.

OK, the pathy is a 1996 r50 auto 3.3ls V6, the navara i think that was referred to was a D21 but that im not sure of.
I dont really care if its a D21 or D22. as long as the manual gearbox has the right length and trans case drive on the left( passenger side ).
Drive shafts will have to custom made anyway due to the 5 inch lift.

I would download a manual off an American Pathfinder forum. I am pretty sure the Americans got manual R50 Pathfinders. Should give you a gearbox model number.
Nissan dont change to many things if they can get away with it. The D22 Navara and the R50 Pathfinder are built off the same platform.
Goodluck.

Well, i went to southern 4x4 in campbellfield on saturday and got to measure and look closely at gearboxs for navaras, I have found that the navaras have the right box, d22 build on same platform as R50's and also found a pedalbox that will fit with almost no mod's.
We are trying to someone that can rebuild the box and fit stronger 1st and 2nd gears so it can be put behind the 5.7.
If anyone knows of a good reliable gearbox shop i would love to hear about them.

No, its correct they are built on the same platform, not the same chassis, that would obviously be different.
The info im using has come from nissan usa and japan, im guessing they would know.
When automotive manufacturers build vehicles they often make similar vehicle on the same production line and use the same platform to build them.

...
platform = chassis
I think you've been mislead 'cuz. Just because its built with the same mechanicals and on the same production line doesnt mean its the same platform.
The design differences between a monocoque and a seperate ladder chassis vehicle are huge.
But if the gearboxes are the same then thats all you need to know about.
R50 did come in 5spd manual in 96 to 98 models afaik.
