Toyota 2T-G engine and gearbox

Post by N*A*M »

Can anybody tell me about the performance and reliability of the 1600cc engine in the TA Celica. What are the gbox ratios? I ask cos there's a Sierra with this donk and box in it and I wanna know about it before having a look. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.

This is the easiest engine conversion i have ever done you wouldnt beleive how close they come to bolting nearly straight in.It took me 5hrs from start to driving it out the garage. No tailshaft mods were even needed.
Ratios im not sure but you cant kill the things i have also had a '82 corolla with one in it that swaped in easy as well.
The zook i fitted it to was a mates and it was originaly a 1ltr and after the engine swap was an awsome little thing to drive but needed taller diff gearing.

Thanks Tony. Did you have to mount the radiator on top? Cos this one is done like that with a bonnet scoop. Any issues with doing this? Did the celica box fit onto a Sierra xcase without problem?

Nope i used a gemini radiator and run an electric fan but it was hard up against the grill. The Sierra transfer is a remote case so just about any box will fit in front of it.

So does this have the twincam engine?

This conversion and the SOA isn't engineered. Easy to put p/steer on to this setup? Got no idea if it's twin-cam. Will ask. Cool about the xcase.
