Mq flares
factory flares are crappy, any little hit from your tyres or tree's they tear off and take abit of the guard with it.
if original mounting isnt there for the guards then make several 5-10mm cuts around the guard and fold flat. this will give you something to screw into.
cheers

That is the stuff... wont snap, and is highly resistant to bending, i ran over the garbage bin the other day , crunched the guard, but the garden edging held up no problems.. bit dear though, not for flares, but i'd hate to do the garden with it
Thrashed '90 Leaf spring Maverick ute, TD42, 2" EFS lift. 36 Swampers.
Search members dude, lotsa MQ flares there.
1. Bunnings garden edging: cheap, wide, stiff. Too stiff if ya gunna be leaning up against them a lot. Otherwise, really good option.
2. Original: crap, will take your 1/4 panels with them. Crack easy.
3. Clark rubber: expensive, not very wide, flexible: great if you don't have to go too far out. Hard to mount - cable ties a lot better than small head screws because they will hold on! Fit the coat hanger wire before you bend the flare!
Do fit them. For the cops, for the people behind you, and also because you will forget to wind the window up after a mud run and you'll know about it quick smart.

* Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool *
finally figured the wire part out.
1)round of wire end with sandpaper.
2)smooth wire length with sandpaper.
3)Lay cut length of duraflare along your sidestep secure with g clamps
and scrap wood.
Dont use wd40 i used a can of castrol CHAINSAW oil from supercheap it already had a small red tube on it, spray down flare until it drips out
the opposite end.
4)wipe wire with a rag soaked in the oil, feed the wire into the small hole.
5)trim wire.
Worked a treat.
cheers.

It's all about the lines you take
i still think arb flares are shltty. like most mq/mks who have a little bit of rust where the flare bolts on, if you dont have every single bit of the flare square and the guard the wire will tend to twist the flare in no time and it will looks rubbish
