The GU witha Tb45 in it is still a guzzler .. But unlike the crusier .. it is not a piece of shit

Driving nicely I could get about 17-19 liters per 100Ks rond town that could really blow out to about 25-27

 GU petrol and fuel economy? i dont think those two went in the same sentence together

i have been on hollidays towing a heavy box trailer with my bike in it and the whole back of the car full including the rear (middle) seats and i have been getting 20lt per hundred.
BUT that is not slowing down going up hills etc...
i have been knocking it back to 4th and sometimes 3rd on some of the big hills etc.. to keep it at 100k-110k and plus  at times

but usually without the trailer but still loaded up with all the camping gear i get 16-17 per hundred on the highway.

around town DD duties its 20 per hundred

also dont forget about the servicing costs and price difference in fuels etc...
yeh diesel will use less but also diesel costs more to buy.
diesels need more frequent oil changes etc.. and also the filters are more expensive and you need to buy 2 at a time etc....

I think its lack of neddies the reason you look elsewhere. but 4.2 is the shitz, if you can find one cheap.. their price seems to be going up

Also the head gaskets are a bit weak, but it has an alloy head so you would expect that, alloy headed motors seem to blow head gaskets more often, cant beat good old cast iron
