best motor to putting it into a sierra

you can use the sierra sump.if the vitara engine is a late model you will need to chop the back out of the splash plate to clear the bearing cap rails.

for something cheap i would go a vitara 1.6 carb. You can always go to efi later. That way you will have it going sooner for alot less.

I have a 1.3 engine, needs a head gasket. PM me if your interested

I think a GTi motor would be a good motor for on road. Buy a front cut and sell the gearbox and bits to recoup some costs. GTi's are always blowing boxes so there should be a demand

This is a strange recomendation uphiir - do they blow up gboxes because the gti boxes are weak, or because the motors are too tough for the gbox?

I was just chatting to someone that has just bought a complete Vitara Carbed 1.6L for 1300...

Obviously you would have to add all the fitment to this cost, but its a pretty cheap starting point. :)

This comes from Suzisport; a 1500 motor, costs $2800

"This is a upgrade using the original 1.3 engine so there are no modifications , looks identical to the original fitment 1490cc WOW!
This engine will give your Sierra some much need torque as well as HP. Comes as short motor only!!"

Has anyone ever fitted a turbo to the 1300 motor?

Yeah do a search one of the guys here sent me some pics of his job.

His was on an EFI 1300 though which does make it easier.

No reason why carby can't be done though.... so if your 1300 is good then it might be worth a try.

The 1600 doesnt make that much more power over a 1300 compared to what a turbo 1300 would make without much strain on the motor.

Not happy with ZOOK stuff, I have fitted a DATO 1200,1500 A blocks and 4,5 speeds, autos in to ZOOKS with out much troulbe at all.The hardest thing I have put in is IZUSU diesel and 5 speed had to move trans back 175mm, mod sump, lift suspension then re wire under bonnet and dash. STILL havent finished it yet not long now.All this done at my place on SJ 130 LWB or SWB ,think hard befor you put a stray block and box in your ZOOK its not ezy fitting them.

I spoke to a mate last night who put a T2 turbo in his pulsar. He thinks its worth playing around with the turbo on an old engine just in case you do some damage to the engine. But he was running 13lbs of boost!

Datto 1400 better than eithe r1200 or 1500 so there....

I should know I've had most datto motors out of the 1960,s 1970's and 1980's.


What I wouldnt give for a 350Z...

Source an A14 from a pulsar and try and go form there.

An E15T would be good (86kw stock and lots more over 7psi), but to be honest they a beat weak in the head area.... mores the pity.

CA20 is a crap motor but for a two litre and 5 speed for $300 (whole bluebird) there is some potential for one of these too.......

E1500 is FWD so there's a lot of work in making one fit. Biggest problem we had with a E15 datto conversion was mounting the starter motor.

Im selling my 2 litre VTEC motor out of my Civic. It makes 125kw AT THE WHEELS naturally aspirated but finding a gearbox could be a bitch :?

I cant be sure but for some reason I think the honda motors are reverse rotation (turn in the opposite direction to most other motors) would not want to put money on that though ..

I am with Steve on the rotary thing .. I was actually looking closely at the swap for a while, it is quite viable with the motors being pretty costy effective, especailly as there are afapter plates to mate them to toyota gear boxes .. how would a LWB 12a or 13b turbo Zuk be with dual toyota T/cases into the bargin be .. Or 12a in a SWB with a C4 auto to a Zuk T/case..

I also love Joey's SR20 swap .. now if he could just figure a way to get the turbo and auto mated up in there as well .. would be great to leave lowered puss box's standing at the traffic lights .. :D

just remember that any swap will require an engineers report. Be mindful of that before you go and put something exotic in. A vitara engine seems to be easy to get certified whereas the SR20 has been a bit of a headache and I'd imagine a powerful rotary could also be a problem. A 1.3 from a Jimny would be nice or even a late model Sierra. This combined with gearing will give you a good allround vehicle

The jimny motor could also be found in australia with an auto behind it - which would be super-cool :cool:

And - according to 'the old man' - is basically a complete bolt on modification (plus wiring)... that would have to make it easier to engineer :)

The rotary is still only a 1.3 litre motor :D so should not be to much of an issue ..
