Has anyone installed 75 springs in to a 60?
I've read all about it, but has anyone actually done it?
Talking about the front here too, not the rear.
I know that the 75 springs are 40mm longer than the 60 springs. I have some specs on OME and Ironman springs. Accoding to the info that I have the OME 75 springs are 25mm taller than the 60 springs (same spring rates). If any has done this, did you get the 25mm lift?
Also by moving the diff forward by 40mm will that create any issues? Steering shaft extensions are available, but are there any other issues?

Yes the springs were for a 2 " lift, so thats about what I got, however as the shackles on a 45deg angle the lift will lift will actually be less, but not a lot. I didn't relocate the axle, because the 40mm is actually in front of the axle, meaning it won't change the location of the diff.Sixty's Guy wrote:Cool! Did you get lift out of the new springs at all?

I've got my measurements A about Face then, I thought the +40mm was to the rear of the spring.
I'm trying to work out if the 75 springs have more camber than the 60 springs. According to my Ironman info the 75 springs have 5mm more camber than 60 springs. According to my OME info their 75 springs have 25mm more camber.

im doing this mod aswell ,got some springs just need to fit them the front springs are suposed to be longer in the front half which gives you the better shackel angle ,and the rer springs are nearly 100mm longer in the rear half but the diff will stay in the same spot . im hoping to have mine fitted this week some time and hope the rears will give some sort of lift too.

Awesome, let me know how you go. According to my research the rear 75 springs will set you diff back about 40mm. The 'rear' of the spring is about 65mm longer. the mesurements i got from the latest ironman book said the center pin is in the same spot +-5mm
when i bought it

i only wanted 2" shackle lift but it lifted it nearly 3" hopfully when i fit the springs i can cut the shackles down on the front ,but i think the rears will still need to be longer because of the length of the springs .

One of the local 4wd shops here has a 60 on 37z. It has a Belton 4" lift, 2" bodylift and plent of steel cut from the guards.

Yes mate, originally i did, they were home made for 2" lift and weren't cross braised, however, i have since removed them and now have much better shackle angle. I didn't really want the height, 2" is plenty for me.Sixty's Guy wrote:Hey Gorilla, did you put on longer shackles as well?

No, shouldn't be necessary, install the 75 springs and if the shackle angle is more than 45 deg then install the shackles, but from what I've seen of 60s you should be ok.Sixty's Guy wrote:I did have extended shackles, but I took them off. fitted the rears in on saturday (in the rear ) but had to remove them they pushed the diff back about 2"and the shackle angle was just past 45degrees (my shackles are 9"hole centres on the rear )i would of had to cut the front spring hanger off and move it forwards 2-3" to make it work .they also lifted the rear about 2.5 roughly.
what is a good shackle angle ?? i thought the angle was pretty good for down travel but prob wouldnt hold if i loaded it up ,if i moved the front mount forwards the angle would be better and i would prob get more height but i just dont know what i want to do .
i wouldnt mind doing a springover but just dont want to have the hassle of changing it back if the police dont like it.

while not entirely 60 series related this might help with your shackle angle question.
The front is nearly at max drop (shock only has about 1/2'' more travel.
This is the other side, with the longer spring I can get heaps more compression right upto the bumpstops!

Hulsty, how does that ride? The shackles angle doesn't look right at all. The shackle angles look the same flexed up and and at a stand still.

i reckon you need to do 1 of a few things
1) get a slightly shorter main leaf
2) get a slightly shorter shackle
3) put a bit of lift in the springs to increase ride height
4) move front shackle hanger forward slightly
any of those things should get your shackle angle looking slightly better..
also disco your shocks when you flex it up to figure make sure they aren't limiting things

It rides like a short leaf sprung cruiser! The front is softer than the 2'' springs and stock shackles i had. Here is a better pic to compare the shackle angle from droop to ride height. On the compressed side the shackle has the bushes in nearly a straight line one infront of the other parallel to the ground. The angle looks wacky, but really, whats wrong with having it? I'll have lots of down travel when I sort the shocks and up travel is better than stock!. When stock the springs flattened before the diff would reach the bump stops. When I installed the springs, just with the diff weight on I had to jack it up 3'' so the shock would reach!!
