before any1 tells u to search, ill jump in :P
king springs at nerang do a 2" lift kit for sierras. no1 else has the front strut and they wont even make it for u, i have tried. 2" is the max u wanna go for a coily sierra as u will have problems with anything higher. plus they say the front strut tower thingy rips out.

the king spring kit cost $1100 which is steep but seeing as there the only 1 with the front struts i say its worth it. seperatly the front struts are around $300. u could get somesorta other springs for it and diff shocks for the back if u want.

there really ur only options.

this info is all from knowledgable people that have had coil lift troubles.

Most reputable tuning shops and performance parts places should be able to get a hold of king springs gear.

Have you considered a body lift, if not I sell them for coily models. Why do you want more spring lift?

Not actually true. There are a few sources for the front strut overseas, but GT suspension in Flemington (Melb) built a Koni based front strut for a coiler some years ago. I believe the strut was welded by S&G Leslie in Melbourne, who also do very trick winch rebuilds. Obviously, the advantage of the koni is it's ability to be revalved and rebuilt.

Yes, the front strut tower does rip out, even with correctly sized bumpstops, as do radius arm brackets, especially if urethane bushes are used.

I think I'd body lift one first to get the tyres on, the path of suspension work in coilers is very fraught. I worked extensively on a club members years ago and there are compromises everywhere - they're not easy to get a good durable result out of.

The only coily I have seen that has decent lift and still resembles a factory zook is that blue/purple coloured one, trogdor his username is one some forums I think. He has some custom gear and a nice lift. He is on 4wd mothly forum and auszookers I'm guessing on here too, so lets hope he reads this.

Steve would be so kind as to explain a way in which the strut tower can be reinforced? i was thinking of just welding thicker and stronger metal but what do u think seeing as u have worked on 1?

I just rewelded it, and it was OK for the time the owner had the car.

alrite thats wat im planning to do if it snaps. anyway what do u guys think on the coil conversion that rocky road have? i was thinking id use their conversion on the front of my sierra, sorta sounds dumb but would it work? I mean the front struts ripping out wouldnt be a problem anymore, would they?

I hope som1 can answer this as im very excited

not sure on how these would go only being a 30mm lift,
just saw it and thought you might be interested to have a closer look

hey thanks for that. never even knew there on ebay. 30mm of lift aint much, BUUUTTT seeing as going really high tends to amplify the ripping out of the fron strut, it might be worth it. plus a body lift itll be alrite i guess.

Thanks though thats not even expensive compared to onestop suzi shop.

I think the ripping out of the strut top is due to shock valving - more stiffness= more chance of it going.

They fail due to fatigue from what I can see, it's not a catastrophic failure - so an increase in shock valving over stock will speed up the rate of failure.

A bigger rubber bush, perhaps, to spread the load?

Has anyone had a strut top go with stock struts?

mine ripped out with standard struts :D

i seriously think the best option is to run wide bushes and welding a large washer / plate with a hole in it to thicken up the mounting point worked on mine no problems. it is just because the mount is pressed and the metal at the top is the thinest and also alot of them are effected by rust also.

i would only try my suspention set up if you can get a doner jimny chassis from like a front cut and really good welding / fabricating skills. I think the best option for people who do not have the skills is 2 inch coil lift and 2 inch body lift otherwise i would be looking into importing kits.

To go bigger in suspention you need
-strut tower reinforced
-control arm brackets braced
-control arms (they bend and to be honest i would get the snake racing ones just because they are here in aus)
-pedders 2 inch lifted crv coils for rear (4.5 inch lift about)
-custom struts (konis would be good because you can just rebuild them so that warrants the cost)
- and probly custom front springs because all of the ones avaible just don't cut it.

so it is an expensive road for not that much more travel than a well set up 2 inch spring 2 inch body set up. I would probly still do reinforcing and control arms though.

i was just lucky enough to be able to make my own control arms and use the jimny mounts. Mine drives great but front travel is still restricted because i did not change control arm set up.

OK, that's interesting- so it's not all due to stiff shocks then.

 coilers..... not suzuki's best work by any means.

yeah i wouldn't really feel like building another unless i had everything there ready to do to a chassis and then chuck the body on lol.

but for what i have mine for it is perfect now and i have spent the same as what i did on my leafies suspention just way more effort.

but honestly it was good with 2 nch lift aswell it just needed some decent shocks mounted a bit higher in the rear (which can be done easy when you have a body lift) and extended struts. Also becuase the rear likes to feel all sloppy harder springs work way better.

a x link on the front would help heaps with ur setup spamwell it would help the flex as what i have found out is that it is the radius arms that limit flex not the shocks stupid arm setup
