GQ Vs GU Diffs width?

Post by gut42 »

Ive searched as much as I can bear. I know that GU diffs are wider than GQ. What I would like to know is where are thay wider? ie what makes the GU diffs widr than GQ diffs? If the GQ cv-axel assy can be used in a GU diff it must be the wheel hub assy where the GU gets its width?

So can you inter change parts to widen your GQ diffs with GU parts and not just use wheel spacers and rim offsets?
i got nothin

you cant use a GQ CV/axle in a GU, this is where they are wider.

Look at a GQ front diff and you will notice the axle tube does not extend beyond the coil tower as much as it does in a GU. rear is the same but it stands out more in the front.

Ive seen a GQ cv used in a GU diff though.
maybe they never put the circlip on the end or something.
but if what youur saying is true and the axle tubes are longer this post is useless!

im pretty sure they use the same axle size/splines, but they are slightly longer on the GU. the CVs are interchangeable but wouldnt be worth it for most people except in an emergency. someone has to have tried the GU knuckles on a GQ diff?
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

If the cv's are interchangeable why wldn't it be worth it?
Swap out ur GQ cv's and fit GU cv's. Aren't GU cv's much stronger?
6" GQ, 37" Treps, that is all.....

A GU cv wont go into a GQ diff because the cv itself is to large in diametre. Yes it was an ermergancy case.

for those guys who upgrade to a GU diff, their spare CVs can still be handy when out in the middle of nowhere and youve allready broken the spare GU CVs.

rogue, GQ knuckles are too small to fit a GU CV.
