Townsville or North Queensland Dynotuners
Townsville or North Queensland Dynotuners
Do any of you North Queenslander's have any recommendation for who to take my TD 42 with MTQ turbo to be tuned on a dyno after I fit 3" exhaust system particularly in Townsville.
Thanks

Hey Hoonz,
I rang ARB and the guy I spoke to had no idea at all, reckon it wouldn't be necessary to adjust the fuel and air once I upgraded the exhaust to 3". So far I'm leaning to Dynolink as I went in there the other day for a look and the owner is involved in the offroad racing scene with buggies so I'll probably end up there unless someone else has any recommendations
Cheers

No intercooler I'm afraid Hoonz, but I have run a boost gauge and pyro since I fitted the Turbo. Pyro is invaluable and should be a must for any after market turbo fit ups. I have been working in WA last year since April and drove over to Karratha towing a 5m Glass boat and had my canopy on and was fully loaded. The trip over there was uneventful by coming back in December last year I had to drive by the pyro as its was stinking hot and all hills were facing the wrong direction. There were slight inclines that went on for km's then you were over them then straight into another one. Sometimes I was going as slow as 80kms. On the way over there I was in 5th nearly the whole way doing it easy and overtaking cruisers like they were standing still. Would love a intercooler but water to air are the only option in the Northern part of Australia, and at the moment they're out of my price range. Might swing to LPG injection yet, as the WA Government give a $1000 rebate on top of the $2000 Federel Government one.

I travel between Townsville to Karratha in WA regularly fully loaded and towing a 5m Glass boat and its gives the cooling system a fair workout. In the top part of WA, the Pilbara and Kimberly, the temps reach up to 50 C in the summer months. So I am a bit hesitant in fitting a front mount due to creating problems with the cooling system due to restricted air flow. A top mount would be nice but I don't think I will get the time to do it. Got any photos of your intercooler setup at all. Will let you know how I go with the dyno but it will probably about 6 weeks away from happening. Got to buy six 285x75r 16's and rims and put a new set of coils through the ute first.Hoonz wrote:air/air intercooler is fine in tsv i had one fitted and so did my bro

Maybe think about moving your lights.......Dicko1980 wrote:So I am a bit hesitant in fitting a front mount due to creating problems with the cooling system due to restricted air flow.Hoonz wrote:air/air intercooler is fine in tsv i had one fitted and so did my bro

I have an air to air, 600x300, infront of the air con condensor that is in front of the radiator. Works fine. For open road running my vote is air to air . I run 35s and 95% of my driving is 100kmh stuff.
The only issue may be a bit of heat soak from the air con condensor.
I tend to drive on the pyro a bit and with the IC the temps drop away and radiator temps recover alot quicker.
Short GQ, Petrol, Turbo.

yeah i'd be relocating those light force lights if your going to be towing that much fully loaded in 50deg heat. maybe a radiator upgrade .... i'm located in WA now in perth
denco do a nice water to air intercooler kit should be able to adapt it pretty easy
what are you doin up in the kimberlies and pilbra?

I work in construction as a Pipe Fitter/Boilermaker and am based in Karratha in FI/FO roster. As for the lights I used to run 170 LF's and when I upgraded to the new 240's the car actually didn't run noticeably hotter at all. I did remove the Nissan badge which gave the grill a bit more surface area. I really don't want to move the lights because they're tucked away from damage and secondly I couldn't be bothered. I like a intercooler but don't want to spend the $ because I know when things slow down with work I will be able to fabricate one up.
