GQ Sticky Door Lock Hard to Open

Post by Dicko1980 »

Hi guys,

Since I got my ute repainted 12 months ago the passenger door lock has become sticky and the door will not open unless I hold upwards pressure on the locker from the inside or pressure on the key whilst opening door handle. Once the door has been opended like this its fine until you lock it again. My ute has factory central locking and I have disconnected the mechanism as I thought it was the culprit but the problem persists. Today I removed the barrel and latch and degreased them both and also tried a latch from the wrecker but it still hasn't made any difference. I suspect now that it has something to do with the adjustor bolt with nylon locking nut but have tried adjusting in both directions and am still not getting any results please help?

Thanks
dicko

It looks to me like most of your problem is the crud all over the whole mechanism. I have this problem here from time to time with red dust....so just spray/wash the lot with crc 556 or the like ....work it a bit till its free...then spray it all with silicone spray or lanotec.

HTH.

I have officially given up trying to fix the door. I have degreased everypart and the problem persists. I have now put the door back together and will live with the problem for another 12 months before I get the urge to pull it all apart again.

Cheers
