Koni 90 series shocks

Anyone lookin for a hard wearing touring BIG BORE shock, these things are MASSIVE.. Helped Dan fit his tonight, gave about 3inch lift, which pissed his missus off.

But these shocks are HUGE, and would rock for corrigations keeping cool.. Would love em, although they are $900pr

Saw a pair a ATOC the other week, HUGE. I'm supsrised they would even fit considering the size. Did it require triming of diff brackets to ensure they clear everything.

An overkill for the majority of 4 wheelers, good for a comp rig though.

They fit, I didnt think they would when putting them in place, certainly a lot less room around the shock in the RHR though.

Possibly overkill, but I do quite a bit of towing an offroad Van & will be taking it offroad & over many a corrugation (EG the cape, gibb river etc). So with the weight of the van & all the other chit I have to take for the kids etc I wanted something that would hold up to the punishment. From speaking to a few of the "experts" they said these would suit best.

Rear compared to the Standard

Front Compared to standard, thats not shock oil either, its WD40, the barstard nut didnt want to come off of the bottom

Ride is 100x better than orig, I thought it would ride a little harsh with the size of the shocks, but its less harsh than the stockies.

no trimming of anything, very close tolerances on the rear mounts..

hardest part was gettin the old ones off..
The old nuts were rusted on - 18mth old car, snapped one front lower shock bolt while takin it off

but car came up horn... with matched King Springs.

interesting, call ATOC then Call Koni people for prices, and shock the shit out of yourself. vermont isnt a long drive.

The reason for mentioning this is when a guy from our club fitted TD to his GQ he had to trim the bump stop mounts on the diff. When on full compression it hit the outer tube of the shock. Maybe GU's are different.

Can anyone show a comparison between the 88 and 90-series shocks? I am seriously looking at Koni's at the moment and although the 88-series would probably be enough for me, those 90's look amazing!

I checked this with the guys at Top Performance today & they sed that there is some sort of bump stop in the shock that prevents this from happening.

I dropped back in so they could adjust my Brake proportioning valve FOC

Great customer service from the guys there.

Yea, considering they called you and offered to adjust it for u!

Amazed though that some places were quoting $700 for installation of 4 springs and 4 shocks..

I am thinking of running these. My last 82series, took a pounding and came back for more. so even for the dollars there not to bad. When 82series are probably $300 each now.

I still plan on triming the rear bump stop pads on the axle. As they do it, when the bushes all bind up.

they are all good specially when rebuildable..

I got 200 000km out of them so far. There due for a rebuild now.
So since the new car will be more modfied. It means it will rarely get driven and when it does it most likly want be off-road. So they will never wear out.

got my Koni's rebuilt, droped off in morning, pickuped in arvo - but call and arrange, usually a 2 week wait.

Yep still happy. There probably a bit too stiff when the car is unloaded but I CBF Adjusting just yet, will do that when I get back from the cape. With weight in the car & with the van on corrugations dont feel like they exist.

45mins on a rough corrugated road at about 60-70kph, I stopped & jumped out & felt the front shocks, only warm, could easily hold onto them.

You should buy some.

i'd definitely reccomend trimming the bumpstops down a bit on the rear diff. i munched two new shocks on my gq becuase the std lower control arm broke. doesn't affect anything by trimming them back just gives your shocks a bit more of a safety margin if something does break

The adjustment is only rebound, not compresion.
