Strong CV's for a hilux/4Runner

Post by cbr »

So I have just shattered my second CV since being on 37's and I am looking for stronger alternatives.

Currently on the market you can get:
Longfileds
Surfs
Profileds
Newfields
Corejoints

I am leaning towards Longs as they have a good rep. and are currently $US129ea.

What are you running?

Is it worth getting stonger inner axles as well??

What is the cheapest option to get Longs from the States??

Chris.

Snake was selling these for about $750 ea about 1 year ago. Not sure if he has droped the price or has the new style. But I suspect that it would be alot cheaper to source them youself from the US.

Snakes price is currently around $650 each and are the new style.
But Im keen as to get some as cheap as posible for my sas.

Another thing that was mentioned in the other post on this subject was warrenty.
If you source them from US you will have to send them back there for waranty claims, where if you get them localy from snake it would that side of things much easier.

Ruff was one of the first to run longs, he got his from snake!!!

As far as i know snake are still about $650.00 EACH.

BJ and I got ours from the states and they were landed here for $900.00 a pair!! That was over a year ago when they were about $490.00 a pair in the states!!!

So in my opinion it is and will be heaps cheaper to buy them in from the states!!!

I think the PROFIELDS would also be comparable on stregth and quality!!! Very similar in price!!

As for Inners well they are now dirt cheap and heaps to chose from!!

ATM i would be steering towards either Bobby longs inners or once again the All-pro ones.

With inners its the other way around, ALL-PRO are tried and tested and are known to be strong, where as Bobby's are realitive new!!!

Either way you can't go to far wrong!!!

Ben,

When are you getting these new aussie-made axles put in?
If they can withstand a beating from you, they will be bulletproof!!
Take em for a test run up widowmaker!!

Do you have the name of a supplier. I'll buy a set at $100 ea.

Cheers

the problem with doing a large grfoup buy and bringing them all in together is there is no way you can pass it off as personal use etc etc and get it past customs without begin hit with tax, its going to be a very large and heavy package and they will hit you for tax and shit, prolly best to bring a set in yourself.

Longs no longer have the ring welded to the bell, IMHO both seem to be very similar, both relativly new, both been tested in the US, both products seem to work.
Time will tell.

Buy the best deal you can get.

Frieght around $65.00 US: US postal air frieght 4-10 days.

So with the strong aussie dollar $80USD = $110.00 AUD (approx)

So $220.00AUD + about $90.00 AUD

=

$310.00 AUD for a pair of either Longs or Profields!!!

Also these items should be classed as Second hand products through Customs!!

Pretty bloody good!!!!!

i bought in one box that had 3 dualcase adaptor and 3 gear reductions, never paid import tax and then another box that had 1 dualcase and 8 sets of longs, didnt pay tax on that either. Im currently waiting on 2 dualcases.

To get the stuff, pick the phone up dial the number, say my credit number is blah blah blah wait 10-15 days and it is sitting on your door step.

thats good in theroy, but you forgot that bobby is in washington state so there is sales tax.
80x2+17%=187.20

187.20+90 (postage) or 120 if you want it insured.

277.20/72*100=385 australian dollars

customs inspection fee of 80 dollars so your up to 465.

then becouse they are new you "may" have to pay 36 precent tax on auto parts so that makes a grand total of 632.40, so if you do plan on doing this budget 650 a pair, but if anyone thinks that they can get them for 350ish a pair in will take 5 sets.
