hilux 7mge getting hot
i was just wondering if anyone on here has done this conversion and what they did for fans i have 2, 10 inch thermos in front of the rad, but it still gets a bit worm pulling up hills. i am not sure if the trouble is the fans or the the rad it could bea bit blocked i not sure
i had slight issues with the 7MGTE getting hot when worked hard, and i think it all comes down to a lack of cooling ability by the radiator. ie not big enough. I suspect if you bought the conversion from matt then you have my old radiator (i sold it to matt), which is a 3 core diesel.
I would try maybe a bonnet scoop to help get a bit more airflow through the engine bay.
Just before my 7MGTE blew, it was getting really hot offroad, so i pulled the bonnet off, and it made a big difference, i was in a 4WD park though, don't suggest you do this on road

Hey Trent wasn't sure which radiator you were running.
Never used the diesel one, so maybe steve will know if it needs a clean out?
Wouldn't hurt to get it checked.
On my V6 i have dual 11" fans, high output, which seem to be fine.
Car sits on 95 on the road but will heat up when driven harder.
The fans worked much better when i put a shroud on.
Also went to a lower temp thermostat which helped.
Are your fans pullers or pushers?
Matt

killalux so you are to blame for the clutch setup. it didnt work real well at all i changed throwout bearings put origanal push rod back in slave cylinder and modded clutch fork so slave cylinder could be mounted on bell housing propely and push on clutch fork closer to bell housing so it would disengage properly. did it disengage for you did you change something at master cylinder end. what fans were you running on your 7mgte
matt my fans are pushers in front of the rad

One way to check if it is a radiator problem is to turn up the heater flat out....if the gauge drops temperature, you have a radiator problem, if it makes bugger all difference, you may have a fuel pump problem, which makes the motor run lean....take off the fuel return to tank and put a hose there into a bucket....see that there is always a descent flow returning...if you rev it and the flow stops, you have lean mixture that will cause excess heat....this is especially prevalent in non efi fuel tanks with external pumps....get a efi tank in there is the best option.

i had 2 11" fans, in front of rad. I think 2 10's would work better anyway, cause with the 11's they didn't sit hard against the rad so air would escape betwwen the fan and rad.
