hi dave, Yes i left muesli bars coated in chocolate in the waeco fridge, bad mooooooove hey? The pic of the river while towing, looks a lot tamer and cleaner than the one we were rescued from. Lucky the house cought yellow from falling of the jack and not you. Hows the truck cleaning going? You may need to remove the one remaining flare to clean behind it, thay say costums will be looking behind inner panels and the like.
Took the family to landcruiser park for 3 days, rainy showers all the time, normally i would complain, but it was good compaired to the rfc. had only all-terrains on mums prado, funny how it was not as hard getting it arround the park as it was getting arround the jungle with a fully bred race truck with the best rubber on it.Luckily there are no log bridges at land cruiser park, hey? john

They are loaded into the container, hopefully on the ship and on their way home. :D  :D

Many thanks to the Malaysian part of Team Queensland, Jason, Dave, Max and all others that have put in a lot of time and effort to make this possible.

Thanks again, because without you there it would have been near impossible, you made it so easy. So that means now I can get some sleep.

Cheers

Well I am putting im my final update.

After "rescuing the vehicles" from LALOH with my kids who were over from Brisbane on holiday I could not offer any more assistance until they left on the 6th January and back to the x-wifes loving arms "bless her little black heart".

I checked the vehicles on the 10th Jan for the final cleanup before we loaded them up the next morning in the container.

We also get delivered Chris Hummer and Peter Taylors bags to cleanout and prepare for the container. However, since it was 4 weeks since the bags had been opened it was quite a task. Chris and Peter will send youa list of what we tossed.

Well I spent 8 hours cleaning out the CABIN of the toyota. Then another another 4 hours the outside (it needed to be redone) after it was washed by the cleaners.
  • I cleaned all the visible mud and poured buckets of watrer in the cabin and washed and washed with toothbrush and rag.
I removed the door seals and washed each inch until clean. Stuffed them in the door as no time to put back.
I removed the window rubbers and scrubbed and put back.
    I washed inside the doors.
I removed the dash and Waeco fridge and cleaned every visible piece of mud cleaned out the air cond vents.
    Cleaned quarter windows.
Removed the rubbers from the batteries and washed them.
Stripped the wiring conduit from as found mud thru it. then removed the insulation tape and washed the wires. Left the tape off as no time to replace.
Removed the window wipers and did not wash them left them in Malaysia too muddy to wash. Sorry John.

The cleaning exercise

Then the outside
  • Removed all the panels and found mud and stones and washed the panels.
    removed everything from the tray
    wiped all tools
Removed the wiring conduit and insulation tape once again - did not replace no time. Found broken red wire and taped it over (John this will have to be fixed it can be found left rear near the taillight)
    Had truck washed again.
Sharpened all knives and parangs found in the vehicles and oiled them hahah grin grin.

Then before we knew it it was 12.30am and time to go home as the vehicles were to be collected at 7.30am and at the port by 10.00am.

Waking exhausted I whizz out to RAWANG (as if I can WHIZZ in a TROOPY) again for breakfast and then the workshop. 7:40am the Toyota is on the flatbed.

Image

Then the SRI LANKAN Landrover.

Image

Then the NISSAN
Image

Then we drove for an hour+ to NORTHPORT at PORT KLANG on the way we find beer to bring back for the NISSAN.

Then its time to unload the vehicles but not before we realise the TOWTRUCKs are needed for the return journey. YELLOW has dropped the U-bolts off on the right side of the rear AXLE. Buggar! I ring work im going to be really late now.

Image

Image

Image

Then we are done with the OZZIE trucks and we drive YELLOW out of the port area and then its on the TOW TRUCK for its trip back to Jasons workshop at RAWANG.
Image

Then its the SRI LANKAN truck with 3 of us crammed into the littlest tow truck we bounce along for the next 20K to WESTPORT. There I see the ITALIAN DISCO looking very sorry for itself and the JUNGLE 1 ITALY 0 for this one. It endoed really bad but also looks like it has rolled again at the cage is broken and every panel has been whacked.
Image

Worse the OZZIE trucks cannot be loaded the CONTAINER is not available. I have to come back at 7.00pm to do the loading.

The SRI LANKAN vehicle is parked. Our job is over or is it. We have lunch and I get dropped some 22.5K from home but it takes 2 hours of hell and I cannot get a taxi. Peter Schmid is called and comes to fetch me 3 hours later. I get home 5pm without going to work.

5.30pm we are on way back to port klang. I ring the shipping company. Bad news the container is malfunctioning and cannot beopened. Tomorrow now at 11.00am.

Saturday 10.00am ring again 12.30pm now for container. Then its 5.00pm. They then ring at 13:00 the container was delivered at 12:35 can we get there.

Once again dash down to the PORT. Drive the vehicles to the CONTAINER. Loading them up it takes us 60 minutes to get the trucks in and tied down.

Derrick almost passed out in the hot container as we had no drinks. It was like a furnace in there.

So my 2007 RFC is finally over apart from updating my webpage and this will be updated over the next 2-3 days so check out www.junglegeckos.com for my version of the 2007 RFC story.

Ps I have alreaady volunteered for RFC 2008 and offerred David Metcalfe any assistance an OZZIE teams needs to compete I will assist.

Hi Dave, mate the Nissan looks as clean now as when we arrived, just a few bent panels are the difference.

It is a pity that I do not have a light weight class at Round 1, because if we did Butler's Toyota would really fit now that you have done a heap of mod too. Don't worry, he will have 10 days to get it right for Round 1.

The Nissan is booked in at WM Motorsport to have some fine tuning done to the motor after I put in some larger fuel pumps.

Now all I have to hope for is the container stays on the ship and it stays on top of the water.

We will get to test all your cleaning around the 4th Feb. hope they like it, if not cleaning fees' here are like gold (we cannot do it our selves).

Cheers
David (MMM)

PS:- All the Malaysian guys and ladies that were involved with getting our vehicles out and into a container, again thank you!!!!! :D :D :D

Just got news from Friday nights Presentation, and all now official:-

Electric Winch Class:-

!st:- John and Steve (Toyota)

2nd:- Max and Jacob (Jeep)

3rd:- MMM and Lance (Patrol)

And it was much to my delight, that the Nissan took out "MOST UNIQUE" Vehicle Award, not bad as there were another 45 + vehicles to choose from. This is a great compliment to all the sponsors and helpers that were involved in making NIS48 what it has turned out to be.

I have also herd that the electric winched vehicles will be competitin with themselves in 2008, this will make it a lot more interesting. Results would have been the same this year but points would have been different.

Cheers
David :D :D  :D

PS:- Butler, remember the famous saying "What happens on the trip stays on the trip".

And to let everyone in on the BBB:- "Belly Button Below " is a bonus! The rest of the story stays on the trip (it was for John and Steve's benefit for first timers at the RFC)
