New car options

Post by Busiboy »

Hey guys,

thinking about buying a Dual cab tourer, was considering the Tritons, but can't seem to get one second hand in the current shape, so now considering a 60k ish hilux.

Would be wanting Diesel and auto would be nice but dont' really want to pay new car prices for the privledge. :D So it will probably be a SR diesel unless I can get the right SR5, but again I would prefer a better condition lower kays SR than a high k SR5 for the same price. Considering this will generally be a tourer and the mods I am considering (basic stuff but negates most things the SR5 offers) I am thinking the SR will be the go.

Once you add barwork, maybe some seats, canopy or tray, lift kit and wheels and tyres it is just simple stuff after that.

Anything to look for in that age range? I know they should be very tidy trucks probably ex council so damage will stand out.

Anything?

Some people have reported clutch problems even from low k's but I have had no problems after 100k.

There is a recall for the bonnet latch which requires reinforcement so ensure this is done.

Other than that they are an excellent base for a tourer. Much better load space in the tub than the Triton (at least 50% more).

The SR has most items you need and the price difference is ridiculous for items most people don't really need.

Being a Toyota you have the nationwide backup and the full range of touring accessories available from all the players.
