TYRE ADVISE

Post by fatassgq »

Hey all,
Was wondering if anyone could give some advise on tyres for my rig. I will prolly be getting a new set for offroad next year and was wondering what to get. (they will be offroad only but will need to do be able to handle road kms to get to trail)
I would love 37's or similar but am not sure how much it will fuck gearing.
I was looking at claws or even pro comp exterrains.
Sick of buying 35' tires that are really only 33'!!!!!

any advise appreciated

Cheers
Brian

yeah I got mtr's and I was looking for something stronger and better at self cleaning.
My personal experience is that the mtrs are shite in the mucky stuff
really want a good strong side wall etc
I know mtrs are good I have a set but I want something chunky

Most tires suck in stick mucky shit.

Strong sidewalls, either boggers or swampers. Boggers need neddies to clean themselves properly, heaps of threads on them here.... Swampers better general tire.

but i also love the q78 swamper.

Reports from the New Zealand challenge say no, also that they are much heavier than the 35's, noticeably less power.....

I know this is the accepted theory about boggers, but why would they be any different to other tyres?

I'm keen to run a set, but obviously i lack the ponies to do so if big horsepower is requried.

I run claws 35x12.5 and so far I quite like them, I have run normal MT;s swampers and claws .. so far I like the claws the best.
They are not to bad on the road when dry .. but suck in the wet (can lock them easily on a Zuk) but they were no worse than my swampers.

with my limited experiance with them on rock they work well (as good or better than the swampers I used) They do pretty well in the mud as well .. perhaps not quite as good as the swamper .. Still more than acceptable though ( I am not sure if this is becasue the claws are a a bit bigger and heavier and my poor lil 1.6 simply cannot spin em)

I bet these have been discussed somewhere but does anyone know about the interco irok. Come in good sizes and look awsome. Cant imagine them being any good (terrible) on the road?
Are they available here?

There was a set on the marks adaptors (i think?) truck at the 4wd show... i don't know if that means they are readily available though.

The tread on them wasn't very deep - i guess that's not such a big surprise though since they are designed purely for rock.

tyres

Post by DR Frankenstine »

go the procomp x-terrain, deffinately the best all round tyre on the market, excellent off road very tough side walls for airing down and really good in the wet as they get away with running a softer compound with the bigger lugs. If a tyre grips well on the road in the wet wouldnt it grip muddy wet rocks better as well?
