3Lt TD Hilux Eco-Shot gas injection

Post by Rob Jonno »

G'day,
Can anyone tell me what the factory EGT for a 2001 3Lt TD Hilux is. I've fitted a EGT guage to my vehicle after fitting an Eco-shot gas system. I've been told to kep the EGT under 550 deg C but it will exceed this weather the gas is on or off, preventing me from using the extra power gained from this instalation. I'm thinking that the factory EGT may be higher than 550. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Have a look at this thread,

One particular quote from eCo-shOt

The hottest his EGT got to was 550 degrees, but that was up through a huge hill, that he usuallly has to tackle in 2nd, in 4th!

Thanks for the link to the thread blakmav, it made for some interesting reading. But it still didn't answer what the EGT gets to on a stadard 3lt TD hilux with no mods. I think it maybe a tricky question as I've been looking everywhere for the info and had no luck, may have to fit my EGT guage to a mates hilux and find our for myself.

call a diesel place and ask.
But I think you will find its round 550-600 TOPs... have you had it dyno tuned since this was all fitted?

yes it was dyno tuned after the instalation and the read out say's it runs 100 Deg C hotter with the gas on but out on the road it acts the same with gas on or off. They also removed the muffler and fiited a hotdog to the exhaust to allow room to fit the gas tank. What effect would this have had on EGT now there is less restriction.

It sounds like you're sailing way too close to the wind without gas. Adding it has got to be making life hell for your engine.

Shift the probe to the exhaust manifold. It's a guessing game having it after the turbo.
