New Build Up in the Vic Zook Club worth following

Post by greg »

Since LJ Extreem is a bit slack with the posts I thought i'd fill you all in a bit about his latest little build up with a SWB Soft top Vitara.

I don't know all the specifications on this thing, and some of these stats will probably be a bit off but i believe it goes as follows:

33x12.5 Yokohama Geolanders
15x8" rims
Front and Rear welded diffs
Sierra Front 3rd Member
5.12 diff gears
Custom Snorkel
all sorts of minor suspension tweaks

No Spring Lift and No Body Lift.

This car is impossibly wide and low for a suzuki of any kind, and I must say that i was very impressed with its performance on the trail. Nice work Mock!

I think i saw this car on Sunday in Box Hill, i as amazed as it turned a car as 1) i havn't seen many decent modded vitaras and 2) it was bloody low, and looked as if it had jack shit clearence into wheel wells but shit it was impressive !!!!

If you hit decent bumps at speed it make a funny fart-like noise as the tyre clips the guard, worked pretty well though I was impressed.

I believe there is much talk around the streets that various cutting implements were used to get the guards out of the way - grinders, hammers, hatchets, steak knives etc... :D

I don't think there is too much rubbing, apparently a tad more needs to come off the front near the headlight area.

cool, hows it going for him? is the gearing low enough off road? what offset are the rims? how big are the tyres when actually mounted on the car? i'm trying to work out how to get 33's on mine, so i'm very interested :D

:D helo every body, he he
The Humvit isnt mine anymore, i swaped it with agood freind of mine for a tow car for critta :P
yes, as u can see there is not much lift on it, i used 2, 10mm OME coil spacers for a jeep TJ front, all round(stock springs), i then proceded to tear the whole inner guard out, smash the firewall back 4 inches, remove the exelorator stop, extend the bumpstops on the rear about 5 inches to help tip the wheel in on compression, force droop and stop the srings from falling out. I also put 3insh strutt jacks in the front.
Not shure what offset the rims are, but yes it is alot
5.12's are not enough gearing, it will need a rockhopper.
Thats right, i unpicked the rear wheel arch, removed some guard, then eurathaned it up.
Flares are made out of lawn edging
The humvit is f$#%'n stabe, dont be fooled by the rolled pic's, i was just trying the imposible.

enough said, here are some pics
enjoy the droop

Why didn't you do the same dual transfercase as the arrangement in the LJX

PS... thats what I want in the Vit... you wanna make another one?

Got as spare Vitara box transfer case waiting to be cut but if someone's done it already any help would be good :D

thanks for the info and pics mock, sounds like an involved process to get em on there, 33x9.5's might be the go, or even 32in mongrels :? . wish rockhoppers weren't so expensive

Sounds like back to the plan of cutting one of the crossmembers out and moving it back six inches.....

No real issues with engineering I'd think since it's gonna have an extra crossmember added in the transfer case supports.

Still, the less you take to your chassis with an angle grinder the happier engineers are so it's always worth asking.

If Chimpboy doesn't get rid of his 32" Silverstones on the MU I'm guessig they're going on the Vit when the BFG's wear out. After all I'm sure I can find another half inch clearance somewhere even if it means more trimming and hammering, or actually going the full 2" bodylift.

If they go then I may just have to get 33"s instead

Antt, 7.50R16's would probably be a nice easy size to fit too at a fraction of the price of 33x9.5x15"s....

What do you mean .. when the BF's are worn out .. They are worn out now .. go fit the 32's already ....
