vitara starter motor?

Post by gumtree »

just a quick question.

i just replaced the starter moror in my gf vitara 92 carby, coz it sometimes would start fine and sometimes u would only hear a click and it wouldnt spin. suzisport put a new one in and it does the same thing. i rang them and they said some vitaras need a relay or mine could have a faulty relay.

does anyone know about this relay or what are the chances the newy is also faulty. note when i got a newy for my sierra the 1st one i got was faulty and the second was fine.

The best way to test the starter is to get a piece of wire with a conector and conect it to the starter and positive side of the battery a few times. if it doesent crank its the starter. It is common for the ing switch to get bad contacts or immobilisers to create resistance, a relay is a way round bad volt drop, it only takes milli amps to turn on a relay as the starter from 10 to 20 amps.

proper diagnose is the key, a relay should only take 20 mins to hook up and get working
relay wiring
terminal, 30.. battery
87.. starter
85.. orignal starter wire from car
86.. connect to a good earth
hope this helps
