HJ 55 running gear on a 40?

Post by Mechman »

hi guys,
i have done a quick search and not found an answer so i thought id ask here.
i have been offered a 76 HJ55 front and rear axles with disc brake front and drum rear, with springs and shocks too. Can any one tell me if these can be bolted straight onto my 73 FJ40?

TIA

Yup, same width axles and spring perch to spring perch. The only real issue is the '73 FJ40 brake master cylinder is set up for drum front brakes.

Over here stateside, there's been much discussion as to whether there ever really was an "H" series diesel 55??? Frame width is the same here, so the swap should be a no brainer, but if you guys have hj55 pix and documentation, I'd sure like to see some!
