Prolocker or ARB ?
Hi there
About to put airlockers front and rear on my Rangie
Thinking of going TJM prolockers as I have a TJM close to home (easy if I have issues).. any bad stories?
Cheers

Have ARB and am happy with it.
Apparently the TJM is also a good unit. Some say the different air actuation system on the ProLock should last longer than the ARB "O" rings but that's more speculation I believe.
I don't think you would be dissatisfied with either, although the ARB units have been out there longer and have stood the test of time.

( usual disclaimers )
It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

air locker
I've run ARB lockers in my hilux now buggy for years and never had a problem, i would go with the ARB unit as it has been tried and tested for years and years in all types of 4WD motorsport. Unless the prolocker was cheaper which i dont think it is i would go ARB every time.

Re: air locker
The pro locker is the Jack Mcnarma locker so it is already tried and tested.HIGH ROLLER wrote:I've run ARB lockers in my hilux now buggy for years and never had a problem, i would go with the ARB unit as it has been tried and tested for years and years in all types of 4WD motorsport. both as good as one another IMO but the switches are flimsy on the ARB ones as appossed to the TJM one but I would go on the price factor if out to buy

prolocker or airlocker?
(toyota or nissan? holden or ford? boxers or briefs? )
people will always feel strongly and even get into punch ups over which is better, but go with whoever will look after you more -
are arb still giving away compressors with each locker sold? - this would sway me

Out of interest, what do the switches look like on the TJM?BUSTED100 wrote:both as good as one another IMO but the switches are flimsy on the ARB ones as appossed to the TJM one but I would go on the price factor if out to buy
I've got the ARB lockers, haven't had a problem with them. I've never seen the TJM's, don't know anyone who has them, so I can't do any sort of comparison.
It's gotta be better than no lockers at all.
2000 SR-5 turbo diesel, dual airlockers, bit of a lift, some 15x8 sunnies, 32" bighorns, a few spotties, and a wireless, and a kiddie seat in the back.
Last set i installed they were the same switch with a different cover. This was when they were first released. Have they changed their style now?Micky-Lux wrote:Out of interest, what do the switches look like on the TJM?BUSTED100 wrote:both as good as one another IMO but the switches are flimsy on the ARB ones as appossed to the TJM one but I would go on the price factor if out to buy

No worries mate. They are wired a little different to the ARB lockers as well but I don't know the full details. I only know that when your rewiring your truck don't go off ARB instructions or they don't work.Micky-Lux wrote:Thanks Mick.
They actually do look like better switches...
cheers

After blowing about 10 fuses I worked this out.
Cheers Mick.
All good as I have GQ front diff and an 80 series rear all properly engineeredme3@neuralfibre.com wrote:Hope you like buying axles if it's a 10 spline.
24 copes kindof.
I'd look at Maxidrive Axles and Lockers before any others.
And that nice hydraulic pump he does too.
Have plenty of mate with Rovers.

Anyone know of the best place around the gold coast to buy and fit them? at the moment looking at Nerang TJM but willing to go anywhere. Recommendation of a good supplier would be great either ARB or TJM
Thanks heaps guys.. good to hear both are pretty much good as each other

don't seem to snap off as the ARB ones can do, as they are flatter

Know what your sayin was talkin to mick about them before i got the ones for my mate what a PITFA to do compaierd to the eairlier rd23 for that fact alone i'd say iy your installing them yourself i'd go with the prolocker as if you stuff a seal hosing with the arb if the locker has the same setup as the lux it won't take long to sort the price diffrence outsimcoz wrote:If you had a toyota i would go with the pro locker,as the ARB locker runs the airline over the crownwheel (very crap idea).IMO
but since you have a rangie go with who ever looks after you the best.
plenty of parts on the bench
