Fuel Tank pressurizing WHY!!!!!

Post by ORSM4B »

Hi guys since owning my GQ 4.2 petrol wagon l have only now filled my petrol tank full since going for a trip, when l noticed that fuel was filling up the carbon canister in the engine bay contantly, so pulled to hose off and blocked it and then the tank still was building pressure so had to drive around with the fuel cap just sitting in the filler.

Can someone tell me what this problem would be and how to fix it.....

Cheers Chris

Not too up with the GQ's but there should be a check valve in the breather line somewhere.. Most likely aroun the top of the tank some where.. It sgould only let vapor past not liquid.. if this is the prob, u will also need to replace the charcole canister as the fuel would have wrecked it..
Hope this helps

I take it that its a LWb Wagon ?

Drivers side rear wheel arch, inside that there is a cover over the fuel pipes.

Remove cover and clean fuel tank breather valve.

It has a clear plastic cover
