So my jabber is on its way east at the moment, and I will be on my way tomorrow. I just wanted to know from any victorians here what to do concerning getting my car registered. 92 swb with 2 inch suspension lift and 2 inch body lift with hdpe blocks, and bunnings flares. Am I wasting my time trying to get it registered with the bodylift?
In perth we have the pits we need to take the car to get it considered road worthy. In melbourne I hear you can get a road worthy from a mechanic? is that correct?Dexter wrote:I think you might have issues with the body lift and the bunnings flares and other little things they always manage to pick up.
Yes your local mechanic does the RWC test then you take it into Vic Roads to get it registered. I am not certain but I am pretty sure any body lift is going to need to be engineered. That said I am not sure if it is actualy policed as there are sooooo many body lifted cars around in Vic.
EDIT: There are a few grey areas with this, check section 3.3 and section 10.

If its currently registered in WA and its staying in the same name, you don't need a RWC. When i moved down from QLD all i had to do was make an appointment with VIC Roads and transfer it over. They don't even need to see the car. As long as it's staying in the same name then its a straight transfer.
my car had to go and get a blue slip last year.... i dont know if this will help you because im a new south welshman.... my car is a 1983 mitsubishi pajero 2.3TD SWB with a 3 inch bodylift with nylon body blocks.. all the guy is worried about is brakes, steering, suspension (a 2 inch spring lift shouldnt need engineering) if u hav driving lights that they dip when u turn ur high beam off, and if your tyres stick out past your body... the guy even said just get some flexi flares and bring it back...

Which side of the city are you on? East side has Gembrook/Toolangi/Labertuche/Neerim.. Other side has Wombat/Mt Dissapointment and probably others but i'm SE Melb, so i only really know this side. Hope this helps.Shorti wrote:Thanks guys, ill give vic roads a ring and organize an appt. Now onto more important things... where do I go wheeling????

A bit off topic but we should have a Melbourne Paj day out. I've only been out once in 12 months up at wombat and am keen to go out soon. I've tried to get the Mlb boys out before but it never eventuated. I still dont quite know where to go but i've heard king lake it good. What do you guys reckon? Who's in?
