home made greaseable pins

Post by ClintzLux »

hi guys i just put new urethane rubbers through the front end of my lux and its got greaseable shackles but not pins
when i was looking at the pins i thought it looks like it would be easy as pie to chuck it it the lathe and drill half way down it then tap a thread to screw a grease nipple on it and then drill through the side of it in the middle.

any advice?
i could be wrong but im thinking im onto a great idea
however while im writing this i searched snake racing to find that their greaeable fixed pins are $77 a pair.
but i figure if i can do it my self it will save me $150 to do all four

look in the hilux bible, theres a thread in there that explains how to make greasable pins.

Basic run down, drill hole in pin, drill another hole through side of pin into other hole, tap thread, bobs your aunty.

When you drill the 2nd hole in the side of the pin take it steady and do it in a well aligned V block. If you're too far out of line you will break the drill.
