Flashing sub-tank light - prado (95 series)

Post by carrot »

Hi all!

I've got a dual-fuel set-up, with an LPG tank replacing the main tank. When I'm using gas the sub tank switch is in the 'off' position, but the sub-tank light flashes on and off (about every second, regularly). When I'm running on petrol the sub tank switch is on and the light stays on as it should.

I noticed this very soon after the conversion.

I've checked the diagnostics port thingy in the engine bay, and something was bridged in there but removing the bridge didn't change anything.

Does anyone know why the sub tank light would flash???

It is telling you there is a problem with the dual tank system when you are running on gas. Which will always occur unless you can trick the system to think it is working correctly on the now missing main tank.

They are not designed to run on gas, so why mess with it?

In a way it's good to hear that someone else experienced the same thing! So please do tell when you hear back from your mate, Fulufojo.

Dogoff, what do you mean by its telling me there is a problem - that the setup has changed, or that something other than the conversion is wrong?

its like a missing link in the system. since the tank is gone its telling you that there is a problem with it the fuel system. you will have it flashing all the time as you have replaced it with the gas tank unless you just disconncet the siwitch

Ok... so is suppose nothing is 'wrong,' except that it went through an lpg conversion. That's fine then. The flashing light doesn't bother me.
