GQ air box suggestions

Post by GUJohnno »

I'm moving my 2nd battery to the rear and want to move the air box to the passenger guard to make room for an intercooler and need suggestions on what air box may fit here.

Any one have measurements of the air box from the 2.8 turbo diesel? Though this might work.

It's common to fit a GU air box in that corner.
When I fitted mine I just had to do a minor mod to the radiator support
to allow the clip in that position to attach - detach when needed.
easy as!
cheers

Yeah i just think that they're a bit small..

I'm looking at putting a 4" snorkel on at the same time.

Has anyone with a 2.8 got any pics or measurements of their boxes?

I have seen an 80 series air box fitted in this space when the second battery is moved. Apparently they flow very well.

Searched but couldn't see any pics of his.

I have downloaded their catalogue and will measure up to see what fits.
Will post up results when done.

I installed one out of a 4.5 GU, it's a tight fit, but it does fit in. It can just be seen in the picture below.

The inlet can just be seen behind the cap for the radiator. My snorkel still comes through the guard in the standard spot (i had a safari snorkel installed before i went stainless) And yes, it is the standard airbox for the 4.5 (and i think the 4.8) It has a 3.5 inch inlet, and i changed the outlet from 3 to 3.5 inches

Started on a 80 airbox conversion tonight. A lot a mucking around to get everything to fit (yep I want the 2nd battery in there with it) but it will fit and give me enough room to remove lid (which is a bonus...).

Had the inlet poking through the guard for me to fit up 3" whatever to.

As mentioned earlier will flow great and already has 3" in and 3 1/2 " out.

I would try an 80series petrol4.5lt airbox. These flow enough to keep 4.2lt turbo petrols running.
This is what I will be running in my TD42 turbo. Another plus is the filters are shit loads cheaper than the nissan stuff.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
