My endless are has given up the ghost and since im looking at putting a turbo on the endless would have to go anyway so im looking at alternatives.
Basically ive been spoilt by the mass air flow of the endless and none of the 12v compressors come close.
The best combo Ive come up with while keeping prices realistic in using 2 new ARB compressors together.
My current thinking is if I buy a 240v compressor from Bunnings or the like, discard the tank and mount the motor/pump in my vehicle connected to my own tank will I have to run an inverter to power it (if so what size) or can it be safely powered directly from the batteries ?

Lets say your 240VAC compressor draws the maximum allowable from a power point - 10 Amps. Thats a total of 2400watts.
At 12VDC, ignoring inverter losses you will be drawing 200A from the battery and that's witout any consideration of the surge current drawn by the compressor motor on startup against a reasonable head pressure.
Most texts quote around 5 - 10 times normal motor current draw on startup, so you inverter would need to have an impressive surge rating as well.
IMO not a cost effective solution.

Have a look at the model plate on one and see how much power it needs. i.e. how many watts. You should then be able to work out your inverter requirements. Dunno anything about whether they're happy being run on funny angles or how they handle the bumping and vibration in a 4by.

Yep further research shows it not doable without using a 4000w inverter and killing by batteries not long after....
Those OASIS 12v compressors look the biz but i cant find an Ozzy supplier.
I got another a/c compressor from the wreckers yesterday to replace the endless air and will swap it over 2morrow afer I put it back together with some grease.
