get a 2inch body lift - 60mm x 50mm nylon blocks from your local plastic dude and bolts from your local engineering dude. You should have change out of $100.

front locker, get a set of second hand 31's for a carton if u have to to tide yourself over, then get wheels and tires.
at rover park, i struggled to get up a hill called pajero challenge, with 35" coopers and 4" lift in a GQ ute.
dad on average 31 a/ts with a lockrite in the front walked straight up the hill. (i took 5 digs at it, bloody loose shit)
there are more 35's or 36's for sale then there are 33's as a rule, and there are usually some good deals on good tyres.
but on loose shit, a locka is gonna be much more use. and anyone can hang anything up on its diffs, i know ive had plenty of times where i wish i had bigger tyres, but with a locker it may have dragged itself through.
no put your pants back on and stop making yourself look like a pratt on teh intahwebs.

i'm leening towards the locker and and 31s, depending on what tyres i can find secondhand when the time comes to buy them.
If i can find some reasonable 2ndhand 33 or 35 muds i'll go that way, if not i'll go with new 31s

Yeah but mate, it initially came across as some one new to the scene after some advise. Don't think any one meant to P#ss you off.
I started off with a basic rig for a few years, and the knowledge I learnt from using that, and picking my lines to compensate for the vehicle, is invaluable.
Still reckon 3" lift and good tyres would be where I would start.
2nd hand tyres more that 85% worn with the lugs rounded have already had their best days.

1st thing should be sliders so you don't wreck your truck.
2nd Put your tyres on interest free or get 2nd hand muddies.
3rd Get suspension lift off me. A 3" lift is best bang for buck.
4th Borrow money off mum for the locker.
5th Keep some money aside so you can fix it if you break it. This should be first but we are boyz with our toys.

Ditto. Do you get 4x4Action magazine?? Have you had a good look at Roothies old banger?? Nothin special about that, just good suspension, good mud tyres and lockers front and back. I reckon (my personal opinion), be a tight-arse like me and pick up some second hand 33's OR 35's - whatever tickles your fancy. Sometimes 35's come up for not much more than 33's and vise-versa.
Get a locker in the front. I've heard it a million times (not quite) and know for a fact that the Nissan LSD's work PORNO!! They're tight as, so no huge benefit in a rear locker (for the flamers: i didn't say "no benefit", just little). 33's will clear easy with NO mods aside from some suspention, which you should get anyway if you haven't got some good stuff already. You can run 33's or 35's on 15x7's, but they look stupid and probably wont have the right offset for the "fatter" tyres you have in mind. Usually you can pick up second hand wheels and tyres cheap here too.
(I have a N/A TD42, 33's, cruiser offset 15x8, 4" lift, open front diff, LSD rear) - happy as Larry, dont have any issues with clearance, gear ratios, fuel economy etc etc etc.
